Maybe by trying to adapt English academies in a way to play "European" football we've neglected teaching them the English way of defending? It shouldn't be either/or - a compromise would be devastating at any level. 4 defenders who first and foremost defend with 6 fluid players in front. Think we're going too far in trying to produce a generation of players that can play every position on the pitch. Damn you Sacchi.
