Usually after a poor result with the seniors you could usually rely on coming here for a bit of joy but not today.pity it didnt work out for the boys today bit of everton that but dallas cup winners these lads owe us fans nothing.proud of these lads this season great results and a great joy to follow.

I disagree to be honest.

The Dallas Cup is a good achievement but not great. We'd have definitely been one of the favourites to win it and we only beat teams we should beat and we only had to win 4 games to do so.

We've generally bottled most big games we've had, not beating the other crowd 3 times, going out at the stage we did to Villa in the FAYC and bottling the Premier Lge trophy from a winning position is basically what they did. It's been an average season, we should have been in contention, we were, but as with last year we've underachieved really imho.

yeh i dont really see the point of the dallas cup, the league is more important and 2 yrs in a row it seems to have had an negative effect.
you can play tournaments like that in pre-season.

...I expect the coaches find out a lot about individuals character on a trip like that. I suspect contract decisions are about to be made so the timing might be right.

I think it is important to note that the makeup of the U18/U21 teams have changed over the course of the season.

The very strong group that dominated U16/U18 tournaments has now broken through into U21 football or gone out on loan.

The U18 team is now very different to the one which started the season so strongly.

Rightly or wrongly the club don't prioritise winning these competitions but want players to move through the age groups. We could be fielding the likes of Walsh in the U18 league but what is the point when he can be one of the best players in League 2?

Look at the number of youth cups the likes of Chelsea have won. Great but no first team breakthroughs.

Spot on. People can't really expect us to have 11 brilliant individuals who will win everything , when in reality 2 players making it from an Academy year to the PL is brilliant e.g. From the 2013 year I would say only Ledson , Kenny are still in with a good chance , with Joe Williams and Antonee Robinson maybe too. Our u18s are 17 , 18 year olds from the 2014 and 15 Scholar years , and as has been said the best players from these years are out on loan or in the u 21s I.e. Dowell, Connolly, Walsh, Davies, Evans and Feeney, throw in Foulds too from outside .

It's far too early in their career to write off the likes of Brewster and Baningime. I watched Vardy on Sunday and thought " He'd be hopeless in our u18 team , nobody would spot his runs or have the ability yet to hit the right weight of pass" . It's interesting the amount of stick Ledson gets from Cambridge fans for trying the spectacular ball that doesn't come off. Maybe he's a crap passer who won't make it, or maybe League2 players just don't have his vision to get on the end of the balls.

We only finished below city on goal difference and with the money they spend compared to us and we were missing brewster for a month or that once we had top 4 secured so i don't really think thats an under achievement.would have been cracking to finish top of course but we were so close and finished 5 points ahead of the other lot.always painful to lose derbys but in the long game we finished above them and despite losing the other day we are still level with them we have both won 2 and lost 2.
Can totally see where your coming from,i would loved to have won the league and done better in the derby and cup but i still think the boys have done great this season.;)

Being honest eggs, they've found out everything the need to know years before then.

As an example, our 2006 kids, the youngest we have, have been abroad on tours 5 times already this season and it would have been more if a trip to Belgium hadn't been cancelled at Easter due to the Brussels bomb.

By the time there 18 they've probably done 40-50 competitions abroad with us.

How has Foulds been doing since he joined? Is he a step up from what we had already or do we have other strong players in the same position? Looks like he was signed due to Galloway moving up and there being a need for an LCB?

Also Feeney is still 16 isnt he yet in the u21s?

Holgate i was hoping would be on the bench for the first team a bit as he cost a bit of cash and highly rated, could you see him coming through next season as a RB cover?

the team hasnt changed that much from the start of the season, the likes of donahue played a few games and is out on loan. walsh played a few and feeney has moved up to u21s but its generally the same 14 or 15 that started off.

This is the team sheet from the game before we lost our unbeaten run
O'Loughlin, Lees, Yates, Feeney, Bainbridge, Davies, Walsh, Dowell, Donohue, Evans, Brewster.

And from our most recent game
O’Loughlin, Yates, Harrington, Baningime, Lees, Yarney, Lavery, Kiersey, Brewster, Holland, Broadhead.

Only 4 players started both games. And arguably our best 4 in Evans, Walsh, Dowell and Davies have moved up a level.

Is bainbridge injured? I haven't seen him around any of the youth squads for a while
