Everton Youth Teams Thread

Fraser Hornby, 16 year old schoolboy midfielder we got from Northamton about 18 months ago, is included in the Scotland U17 squad for the European u17 championship later this summer. I've no real info on him except he was a regular in the team that reached the finals.

Thanks for posting this

Remember giggs played for england youth as he was in england then wales of course. I guess the rules have changed now.

Good were signing players like this

I picked this up in my local paper, just a short note on the squad. Not much about him as the Club rightly limit info on u16s, but it seems he's scored a few goals for the u16, not in a Dowell way , but enough to suggest an attacking mid not a DFM . Fraser of course is a Scottish name so it suggests strong Scottish connection .

Ok folks we've got a game on tonight, a chance to return to a bit of football normality and discussion for a few hours , I don't always agree with all the opinions expressed in this thread but it's a breath of fresh air compared to the current discussions in some of the threads.

"Everton Under-21s return to action on Monday evening as they host Leicester City in the Barclays U21 Premier League at Goodison Park (7pm kick-off).

David Unsworth’s side head into their penultimate league game of the season looking to make it four wins on the bounce after victories over Norwich City, Chelsea and Manchester City in their most recent outings.

The young Blues currently sit third in the table and could consolidate that position with three points against the Foxes, who currently lie bottom of the top-flight division.

Recent first-team debutants Callum Connolly and Tom Davies could be named in the starting line-up, while defender Matthew Pennington is also available after being recalled from an impressive loan spell with Walsall.

Entry to the game is free for all Season Ticket holders and FOREVERTON members.

Admission is otherwise priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.

For fans unable to attend the game, Everton's official Twitter account will post live match updates and a report will be on evertonfc.com after the final whistle.

Been flying it last few weeks.pity we had such a bad start to the season.

Tony hibbert will be playing tonight, says it all about the club - joke
I don't agree with that
Hibbert is an experienced Premiership player.
Youngster learn from playing alongside players with experience, they can soak up the knowledge from them more easily by playing alongside them than they ever would in a training session.

We may have lots of problems at the club, but that isn't one.

There is no evidence at u 21 level that supports what you've said. Just about every game I can recall where we've played experienced players this season we've lost . That includes when Hibbert last played against Porto I think and Connolly scored a cracker. Hibbert barely got a mention and was a peripheral figure, so not sure how they were supposed to "soak up the knowledge from them ". If you argued that Martinez is going to play him / bench him on Saturday so wants him a bit fitter it may be closer to the truth, and says it all about our current predicament.
If we are really serious about our youngsters soaking up knowledge by playing alongside our senior players then the way you do that is to give them exposure to the first team by playing them alongside them, not by dropping in a 35 year old half unfit player into the u 21 s and expecting some kind of morphing to take place.
