This is the Pennington who's never been given any real exposures and had what 45 mins in a cup tie and never been on the bench at PL , but there's Holgate who's never played any PL mins, or Connolly who at least has played 30 PL mins. It's pathetic the lack of exposure these youngsters have had.
Another chance missed tonight to give Connolly or Holgate a bench spot. This is not about giving a wide eyed kid a chance to lap up the atmosphere, it's basic team management . You have a defender on the bench who's actually played defense recently I.e Connolly, then if you lose a defender you've got cover. Everton being Everton of course managed to lose two.

That would be the Pennington who has been performing well in the upper echelon of League One for a year and a half mate.
I think it's a fair call to give someone who's been playing first team football at a reasonable standard a go IMO

Actually my post is poorly written - I have an excuse. I was trying to make the point that Pennington has had absolutely no decent exposure to the PL , and yet as you say he's been performing well in Leaguev1. It wasn't a dig atbPennington , just a mini fume about tonight and The position we are in for Saturday

I should have highlighted this bit. "It's pathetic the lack of exposure these youngsters have had."

Osman on the bench rather than Davies...i understand why due to the experience BUT hes off in the summer and Davies could have gained valuable experience.

Oviedo at RB when Connolly was fine the other day...disaster.

Baines looks finished as well so even as a sub connolly could have been brought on for one of them and in hindsight was needed at centre back.

Shocking.
 

Fraser Hornby, 16 year old schoolboy midfielder we got from Northamton about 18 months ago, is included in the Scotland U17 squad for the European u17 championship later this summer. I've no real info on him except he was a regular in the team that reached the finals.
