Everton Youth Teams Thread

Thought Beni may have nicked MoM for his sheer energy and skill , not even 18 yet. Every time I see Feeney playing I'm more and more impressed, another one who's only 17, his partnership with Foulds is developing nicely.
Unsy just on tv , asked about his influence in getting two clean sheets, well the replacement of Evans with Kiersey said it all. Kiersey is a less skilful attacker but has lots more energy for playing a pressing game, and getting back. With Unsy we hold what we have no doubt about it!
Thought the pitch looked bumpy and very narrow, so overall a good team performance and first trophy of the season, well satisfied.

Though Henen looked decent in Second half decent pace and got back well.

....agree with that, disappointing loan spell at Fleetwood after promising so much but he put in a shift there and played well. I think it's so much more difficult for forward players to steep up, they have to be very special.

Aye he seems to keep discipline and egos in check but manages to do it without being a bullying tit - players seem to both respect and like him which can be a difficult balancing act to pull off.

....the other thing is building a team ethic with individuals who are looking to impress. These boys ultimately want contracts and inclusion in the first team, you could understand if they were self-centred and non-inclusive but there seems a genuine team spirit.

Big plus for the future is Koeman seems cut from a similar cloth to him and they should have a good working relationship - plus the addition of Walsh is an absolute Godsend for him, know each other from way back and Walsh already talked glowingly about him

Out of all the ex players floating around in coaching he is the one who one day could end up managing us you would hope

We have a frighteningly good set of lads coming through.. How on earth have we done so well - not just the quality but the quantity and, just as important nearly all English or (if not) trained for 3 years at the club making them home-based. Must be that Finch Farm thing is now paying massive dividends.

We've already seen Barkley and Stones (signed at 18) - both England regulars, and then the likes of Galloway (signed) and Browning, Garbutt (signed) and Tarashaj (signed, international), Holgate, Davies, Connolly, Pennington, Ledson, Grant, Jones, Dowell...

Probably fair to say that Unsworth enjoyed the perks of being a pro player. He also played with some quality players and was no slouch himself. He has seen everything, just what you need to be guiding the kids.
