Everton Youth Teams Thread

I used to think Lundy was every bit as good as Barkley, not any more obviously but I think he'll make it at Everton.

Didn't catch the match. Any reports on how well the 2 lads did?

England won 3-0, Qatar badly parked the bus, 2 shots for them, none on target. Both played at full back, Garbutt looked good again, played the ball really well, always looking for a forward pass. Browning did everything asked of him on debut, a few times in the first half when in possession you wanted him to run at their full back but he'd turn and pass back, he got more into it in the second half. He is very quick as we have heard, after one attack broke down he made a 50 odd yard run to get back and make a challenge, the other lad had about a 20 yard head start on him.

He's definitely not a right back. He's a CB all the live long from what I've seen of him.

Yer definitely, he was like a CB bringing the ball out today, looked fine but wanted to pass the ball on rather than charge past people, like Stones was when he played right back, you could just tell he was a centre back.

You could see the difference in either fullback. Garbutt is a proper fullback who bombs on and Browning looked desperate to get rid of the ball as soon as possible. Still looks like Browning could bring it out of defence and looks absolutely rapid at full tilt.

The next three games are v South Korea, Brazil and Colombia, so they will be tested a lot more, Browning as a defending right back might well shine, Stubbs has pointed out his ability defending in one on one situations to be one of his strong suits.

He's a big, very quick lad who's playing out of position. I'm not having a pop at him, it's just akin to Stones playing RB. They are both fairly limited there. He looks like he could be a very good footballing CB if he can read a game well.

Second game of the Toulon Tournament today for Garbutt and Browning, England play Brazil, the match is being shown on BT Sport @ 18:15. Brazil have played twice so far in the tournament, beating South Korea 2-0 on Thursday and Colombia 2-1 on Saturday so our lads have had an extra couple of rest days prior to the game. Our previous opponents Qatar surprisingly managed a 1-1 draw with South Korea on Saturday. The group games are every two days now, England play South Korea on Wednesday and then Colombia on Friday, the top two teams progress to the semi finals.

Edit:- the two teams that top the group go straight into the final and the two teams that finish second in the group play in the 3/4 place play off.
