Everton Youth Teams Thread

The starting point is that he's 19 . He's not ripping up PL defences in the way a 19 year old Lukaku was or looking comfortable in a PL team the way the nearly 19 Rashford can do.

As someone who knows a lot about united a academy. He may not look comfortable in the pl team like Rashford does but he's playing better and is much more highly rated at academy level than Rashford was. Rashford although a decent player was never a stand out player at that level.

ive read the same about rashford in a few places...why do you think hes done better in 1st rather than youth teams? better players/more confidence?

same as kane at spurs.

Hmm, youve cut out the rest of my post . My starting point was to put things into perspective particularly when replying to Zat! , agree, it's been pointed out here before that at u18 level Rashford didn't score a lot of goals.

For avoidance of doubt this was how my post on Calvert-Lewin continued " For me he's looking our most promising attacker since Chris Long, which is a deliberate comparison. I think he looks better than Dyson, Duffus or Henen but could of course fade into obscurity. He's only been with us a few months so hard to judge maybe , just that I've been quietly impressed with his progress. There are signs about him that I really like."

Also believe I was one of the few who rated him highly after the derby defeat when I said this :
"The other positive was Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He looks the most likely of our current forwards to progress . He's still a long way to go but he was always the willing outlet for a long ball up field, controlled the ball with his back to defenders , laid it off well and is showing he has an eye for a goal when the opportunities arise.

I'm sorry but Rashford must have shown something at youth level. You just down get picked for the first team at 18 years of age, especially at a club like United.
