Everton Youth Teams Thread

It looks like Justin Clarke is now 16 and therefore a 1st year Scholar, so many youngsters 15, 16 years old, with. “ potential “ are being snapped up by PL clubs, he’s certainly worth a gamble . We’ve now got to start proving to these kids that we have an Academy and a club where they can be developed all the way.

There is his goal he scored

You’d think it would apply, otherwise he could step up into our first team before Christmas and play PL 😳. There’s not much info, a likely scenario is that he didn’t sign a Scholarship with Wimbledon , we negotiated and signed him as a free agent.

…if he was a free agent, would we have signed him for a ‘six figure fee’?

Do transfer windows not apply to kids?

Can Premier League clubs sign players outside of the transfer window?

Yes. Clubs can sign free agents - players who are not contracted to another club - at any time.
However, unless there is space in a club's registered squad or the player is under the age of 21, new signings must wait until the next registration period before they can play for the club.

Anyone in for Ashley Young or Coleman ?

Might have been a sweetener to get out of a lengthy tribunal
Yep, we’ve done this consistently over many years, we’re the good guys, pay up front and don’t go to tribunals , often paying over the odds, Okoronkwo springs to mind recently, although slightly different circumstances.
As long as a club makes a contract offer to a youngster they can claim a fee from a tribunal even if he refuses to sign and goes to another club.
