Excitement, a strange feeling to Evertonians

I am currently monitoring my excitment levels for the summer with a view to a SWOOP to a smile dependent upon outgoing depression.

just two days ago (me included) peeps were hoping and talking like we would sign 2-4 new players....omg..
But but..
Lets not throw our axe into the river

I love that I have no clue what that means.

I'm trying to be positive, but we need a few more new faces I think.

does anyone suspect this "strong interest" we seem to have in all these players is down to Kenwright's cosy relationship with the media?

Last summer we had no hope, Moyes saying zero chance of making any signings and rumours of the club being in serious financial trouble. A protest group was started and people went into the season with a lot of negativity and justifiably so, when we signed nobody of note and sold Arteta on deadline day.

We get to this summer and we've signed a Rangers player on a free after they've imploded, we're supposedly going for players like Hoilett, Rodallega and pranjic on frees. Now the rumours are there that these players are going to be going to clubs like Fulham on more money and I'm personally not surprised.

Then we see random sources saying we're after Castaignos, ridiculous talk of an £18m bid for Cardozo, then today I read some idiot mentioning we're in talks with Huntelaar. Are these stories being planted to keep fans on side?

why is this summer any different to us being completely skint for the last few years? Are we really any better off than before, or is all of this just smoke and mirrors to keep the fans "excited", until we get to deadline day, Baines "wants to go" and Pienaar comes in with £3m of the £15m odd that we get?

the question has to be asked are we being played? Are we speaking to these players knowing full well we cant afford them so we can say "we tried", as clearly honesty is not the best policy as last summer proved.

I'm not trying to dampen the spirits, far from it I want all these rumours to be true, but with things having been so bad for the past few years, how are we magically in any better position? Have we all fallen for it, to be bitterly disappointed moreso than before?

No unless the coaching staff and other employees of the club are being deceived, bearing in mind we heard about Rodallega, Pranjic and Hoilett, from people with different sources in the club.

Nothing wrong with any of that although if the club are knowingly putting weak offers on the table as "a means to an end" then they are going to get found out quick becuase this fanbase is wised up to the club.

My thoughts exactly - reason I'm suspecting that is what they are doing is that they've never really been shown to be in touch with the fanbase before so may assume it's easy to deceive them.

Saying that, many people just read the papers and not the internet or twitter so you just never know....

Pienaar and Naismith in will be a success compared to last summer, so our expectations aren't exactly set high...

You must be joking mate. That's been goin on since we 'bid' for shearer. Most of our fans lap it up.
