And there we have it! The fix is complete.

As I said, had to be done today in view of the already delayed overspend announcement tomorrow.

Stinks.

To be fair, I think Leclerc's fiasco at the end probably did equate to a penalty, so I don't have an issue with that aspect of it at all.

My concern is the speed in which it was given compared to other decision's currently being made, and the lack of consistency in how the stewards make them.

It could easily sound like a broken record, but would all drivers (no, one particular driver) receive the same punishment in the same time? No.

They've now declared him WC, but according to Sky and BBC the maths is wrong. Evidence for trial, my honour.

Massively intrigued to see what happens with the overspending controversy, noticed the reporting has changed already - first of all 2 teams, 1 minus 5% (allegedly Aston) 1 massively overspend (apparently way over 5%) then a week later 2 teams negligible overspend.

Seems to me Red Bull are the LFC of the F1 world.
It’s all on the FIA really, they’ve obviously delayed it to find a way to make any team overspends negligible to avoid any controversy. As much as I love F1 the way it is ran is appalling.

Title provided, based on a complete lack of understanding on the rules by pretty much everyone, so now Red Bull will get a 'very stern' talking to.

'You were very naughty, Mr Helmet, by letting your team overspend. It's a terrible thing, and we're sorry for having to give you this slap on the wrist.'

2 hours to find a decision last weekend, less than 10 minutes this weekend

Raced the majority of the season with a non-conforming floorpan, and overspent last season.

Asterisks everywhere.

The FIA are absolutely spineless.

I'm still amazed they investigated Ferrari that season they were ridiculously quick, found 'discrepancies' but refused to publish the findings. The next race Ferrari had mid pack pace. So no, no cheating, just mysteriously lost pace. Amazing.

They were spineless following on from YAS last year when one driver was in total control and the race director went against their own rules to give Verstappen a huge advantage. They are doing whatever they can to avoid any controversy with the overspend.

You know when Everton put massive losses down to Covid? This is similar but in this case the FIA are helping Red Bull squirell cash away in various columns.

I'd LOVE the whole grid (bar Red Bull and AT) boycott the next race. It would be massively embarrassing for liberty media on their home turf.

Something has to give.

It’s pathetic to be honest and a reason why people struggle to stay engaged with the sport, over complicated rules, absolutely pathetic rules (drivers taking penalities for engine parts, should be a team punishment IMO) and then the occasional farce. They really don’t help themselves. Don’t have a cost cap if you’re not going to enforce it.

That Ferrari debacle was laughable, didn’t release it to keep them sweet as they know how much they lose if Ferrari ever decide to pack it all up.

The last race last year was very nearly enough for me, I know they want to put on a show but you can’t do that to another driver just because they want a one lap shoot out. Hamilton should have just called them out for what it was after that, he was incredibly restrained.

And you’re exactly right about this current situation, only one reason to delay the findings and that’s because they wanted the championship wrapped up and they can slide their “warnings” to RBR and Aston under the carpet.

You have Sky pundits et al., who are so involved in the sport, not knowing about the regulation meaning the race would be 100% points rather than the capped.

If they don't get the rules, do the teams? How are fans meant to know? Put into the consideration the farce of last season, the spending cap, penalties...

It's no wonder that people feel that the rules are adapted to suit a few parties.

In regards to your last sentence, do you not feel that’s how all sports are heading these days? Money is king and whoever has the most gets carte Blanche to do as they please. Unbelievably I’m finding myself watching more NFL as the draft system keeps it, relatively, a level playing field. Obviously a few teams have some superstars but in the main I enjoy the competitiveness of it all.

I'm the same. I love the NFL now, and every season is exciting because you never know who will win it. Even the crap teams are interesting because you get to watch their draft and trading activity to make themselves competitive in the long term

Pretty much the same as me mate. Only sport at the minute for me that’s exciting as there is always multiple teams going for the championship. The draft system is boss.

And the salary cap. It's amazing to me that the most equitable sporting league in the world exists in America, but there it is
