I think Merc is potentially screwed for the next couple of years, possibly until the next regulations.

Red Bull is on a different level altogether, fastest in a straight line and through the corners.

If Merc ditch the current philosophy and copies what Red Bull and Ferrari did then they will be playing catchup just like Red Bull was doing all the way up until the final season of the last regulations. If they stick with the current philosophy they risk completely writing off the entire era...

Agreed, if they try and copy they are already a year behind, can’t see a way back for Merc on this seasons showing

Hasnt been a good race yet this season

Bahrain and Jeddah were both good and looked very promising for the season.

It's been going downhill since then though

Silverstone was a good race, there have been good moments, its just worked out terribly in terms of a title battle

I wonder if the F1 bosses regret fixing the Abu Dhabi race now Red Bull are destroying the whole field this year. They really didn’t need that help.

This has been a dull season compared to last.

Verstappen is a terrific driver, but his car advantage here was just ridiculous. It was as great as anything we saw under the 2014-21 Mercedes domination.

When Hamilton started from the back in 2016 with the all-conquering W07 it was far harder for him to work his way up the field than we saw with the Red Bull today.

The changes to cars being able to sit infront other the car infront surely help the better cars to get from the back to the front easier. As long as they stay out of trouble in terms of hitting another car, it’s a piss take

Yes, that is true, but even accounting for this, the car is astoundingly faster - we saw it all throughout the weekend, not just during the race

Never seen a car overtake with such ease as the Red Bull yesterday. Not even the mp4/4 or the fw14b.
Its gotten to the point the Verstappen could take Saturday off, not bother qualifying and still win.
