FA CUP 2020-2021

Bore off, so tiresome this provocation.

We play city because thats who weve been drawn against. We would all prefer a "lesser" team but weve been knocked out by so called "lesser" teams in recent years. Write us off for a reaction all you want.

We beat united in the semi's in 2009 (that seasons league winners) and reached the final. After last nights performance we have as much a chance as anyone to go further in the fa cup this season.

Stop your mumbling and grumbling, we play city and ive no doubt we will put in a terrible 25 minutes and come into the game slowly. We have a dress rehearsal in the league next week, only a fool would think Carlo wont learn from that game in preparation.
Every Everton supporter when that draw was made went "FFS!".

It is what it is and we have to make the best of it, but dont let's make a virtue of it. There is no upside to City.

The worst thing for me about it is this: if we beat them we'd still have two more giant missions on our hands.

When we won in 95 we had nothing until the SFs against Spurs.

That's how we can win: avoid the big guns until the last stages. Even then it's a tall order - see Chelsea 2009.

City haven't got a top striker at present so if you defend the box well and stop the runners you have a chance.

We can beat anyone on our day - the problem is beating them normally wins you the trophy whereas we would still have Utd and Chelsea likely to come - whats the odds realistically of winning all those games?

Again not impossible but I wouldn't be getting to emotionally invested in a result - did that in 09 and cried me eyes out walking out of Wembley after the fantastic run we had on the way to that final it just felt like destiny that year.

Im firmly emotionally invested in the league and top 4 fight - anything in this is a welcome bonus.
Our name is on the cup this season. The fans won’t be there to see it in person, it’s the ultimate ‘Everton, that’ moment.

What on earth do you watch ?
No top striker ?
Have you seen how many goals they've scored recently ?
They score from everywhere, like we did the year after Lineker bagged 40 in 40 games and we won sod all !!

Aguero is finished and Jesus whilst very good isn't for me top drawer.

I would say RS, Spurs and Utd have better centre forwards I mean Sterling has played as a striker for City this season in that weird fale no 9 position.

We had Newcastle in the quarters who were a top team at the time (obviously not in general)

Let’s ask Spurs and @Yid4life if they would like City in the 6th round, I’m sure they would swap places with us. City are a great side no doubt, but they are beatable and we can beat them.

Agreed.

We are going to smash them up in the League Cup final so you should have no worries winning this tie.

Our strategy is to let them tire themselves out by scoring 5 or 6 goals in the first half and then go for the jugular. 7-5 Spurs.

May as well go out early rather than waste our time trying to get to the final and get beaten by them there then...
One off game I;d take. Beat them and you win it.

If we beat them in the QFs then we'd have two more from United, Chelsea and Leicester to defeat.

Spurs
City
United
Chelsea/Leicester

That's a tall order. We are not an elite team again yet. And that's what only elite teams can do.

You don't get it do you... the way they play they don't NEED a true No.9 when they're getting goals from every other position
