2019/20 Fabian Delph

Thought he had a few good moments today, broke the lines a few times with some intelligent ball carrying which our midfield has been sorely missing. That said, for a player with his experience he made some utterly hocking decisions today. Harsh yellows granted, but he needs to take more responsibility. Hasn't got the likes of Fernandinho, Silva, Aguero, Kompany et al to carry him or his teammates.

He can only be arsed when things are rosy though. He wasn't arsed when Liverpool U-23s were scoring against us.

Not one player on that pitch was - weird to reference "that" game.

I would rather Schneiderlin than IM DER BOSS Delph costing us every single week whilst blaming everyone but him.

The bloke was a complete liability for the time he was on the pitch...

Set up their goal...loads of bad tackles...poor passes...then the pointless swipe at the ball for no reason.

Im not sure what hes meant to be good at?

Agreed, it was a weird game for him and he showed class at times but was dreadful in parts too.

4-4-2 is a tough formation as a centre mid without a proper two. Some might disagree but I think he’ll prove many wrong.

I think he just believed his own hype tbh, he was spoken of highly by Pep and apparently comes off as a big presence in that City documentary, he's actually having to show it on the pitch now though so I think it's showing a bit that he coasted for a few years at City.

Still think he's got quality though, would have signed him in his Villa days in a heartbeat.

The first yellow was because he had to lunge to reach a poor pass from Digne and the second yellow, well, wasn't. Some players have shockers that lead up to red cards but he wasn't having a terrible game at all.

The 2nd goal was completely his fault which probably made an otherwise decent performance seems terrible. Same with his decision to just give Newcastle the ball back after them making it 2-1 a couple of weeks back. Hoping these mistakes are symptomatic of missing a lot of football rather than him being a liability. Think there's a player in there still.

The reference to that game is because Schneiderlin was chilling on the floor a few feet away from where Jones was curling it into the corner.

He had one good driving run today from deep.

And that second yellow was laughable, not holding the sending off against him.

Otherwise, this is not the Delph we were promised.

Had some great runs that were highlighted with stupid decisions and also with the error that led to goal AND a red to top it all off. The lad has a massive ego and is having a reality check without that City squad to carry around his less than impressive ability.
