Fake News By Everton FC.

So why was it added if it wasn't in the main statement?

Exactly. I reckon someone has turned some verbal vitriol and aggressive pointing that happened into an exaggerated head lock.

Whereas both are well out of order. Jazzing it up for impact is unforgivable.

It’s left fans not sure whats real and what isn’t. Telling the full truth will sort all of this out. It’s bizarre.

surely merseyside police should publicly ask for the club to come forwards and make an official statement as this is a public safety issue
They made an official statement and everyone went mad. If I was in Moshiri’s shoes, I would ignore the fans now. We are at a stage where there is no common ground. If we don’t like it, let’s raise £1,000,000,000 and buy the club off him.

I don’t like the board, but when the line gets crossed and personal safety is at stake, they have every right to disengage, just like fans have the right to disengage.

The board disengaged years ago so nothing new there. They just don't like that there's a section of fans who don't want to clap along to the Championship. Criticism is something Bill and co have never been able to take and it's no different on this occasion.

blue bill molested me.

but I'm not going to follow it up with the police and everyone should believe a statement without evidence/independent witness/criminal/police report.

It feels like primary school levels of made up story - I really hope it's not and so the perpetrator should be banned from Goodison and reported to the police who should throw the book at them... but my gut (which could be wrong) tells me this is jackanory levels of bs from the club.

Let's just try an build a timeline to this shall we.

12pm - Everton release statement about board not attending due to safety concerns.

12:11pm - Julitte Ferrington tweets

12:25pm - 5Live start to report on statement - they go to Juliette Ferrington at Goodison who is reporting on the game. At 12:27 (skip to 27 minutes in broadcast), Juliette Ferrington states, "I understand her car was spat at and jostled, so fans were trying to physically move the car after she was trying to leave after that Brighton game, she was in the car her husband. There was some very sexualised and misogynistic language used towards her."

She makes absolutely no reference to DBB being "physically manhandled by a male" - despite this surely being the more serious of the events that occurred out of the two. Surely that would have been the major talking point instead the broadcast chats about the statement for a moment then going back to talking about football in the Championship.

12:49pm - Julitte Ferrington tweets what she has just said on the radio.

1:28pm - Joe Thomas / Liverpool Echo make report of DBB being put in headlock

2:45pm - Greg O'Keefe / David Ornstein / The Athletic ratify the story stating - "according to a club source who was asked not to be named for their safety."

And that's it. All from 'club sources' via effectively 3 journalists. Two of whom are well in with the clubs media team and David Prentice.
Great post mate, thanks for putting the time into it.

I can't see any tangible evidence to suggest this story is true. Which means the Board are engineering it to shield themselves from their utter incompetence in running the club. A truly despicable turn of events.

We are crashing and burning in a truly spectacular fashion and it makes me sad and furious in equal measure.

This is getting a bit confusing.
One report saying she got stick and put in a headlock In the directors box.
Then another says she was attacked in her car with her husband and spat at.
Or was she having a really bad day getting headlocked then attacked in her car, spat at afterwards
Or two incidents?
Either way needs clearing up.

I mostly agree. Bill has been aggressive with his media management, but it is all coming apart. Ex players and friendly journalists now calling him out.

Moshiri is not as used to the limelight and withdrew. He stopped attending games but has recently communicated with a friendly journalist.

To be honest, I don’t think you can ever win with an enraged fan base. If you can’t address the issues, the best thing to do is to keep quiet and stay away.

So why was it added if it wasn't in the main statement?
I think there's a few ways it could have gone:

Either it was a calculated smear with the veil of an anonymous source should it backfire.

Or, it may have happened, the board decided not to publicise it explicitly for fear of dividing themselves from fans further, but someone else in the club aware of it has taken it upon themselves to shout their mouth off to a journo.

Or it didn't happen quite as reported, (perhaps someone got too close and raised an arm to a shoulder or something) and a journo has exaggerated someone's account to make a story even more exciting at a time of already high tensions.

I'm just struggling to see how it benefits the board stirring up the fanbase even further still with falsified claims of physical violence. Anyone in their pressurized position would be wanting things to quieten down, not be stirred up further.

A director attacking another director? The plot thickens. Why would the rest of the board be in danger from supporters if it’s board members attacking each other ?

I believe it’s number one.

If it was number two or three, surely there would be an official statement to clarify matters.
