Not to disagree with your sentiment, but your figures are way off

It's really only about half of that which is investment into the club, the rest is share purchase

It's looking like a good thing he's here though

With all due respect Terry, we're arguing semantics here. He's spent £169m on Everton. He's spent £89m to make himself the largest shareholder in the club and he's spent a further £80m improving the club's financial position.

If I spent £89m to make me the largest shareholder in Heinz, I've 'invested' in Heinz.

Same thing with Moshiri 'investing' in Everton.

I understand what you're saying - the £89m he spent on shareholding has basically lined Kenwright and Woods pockets and not EFC coffers. However, the trade off of that is that he gained power over club affairs to drive the club forward.

I'm honestly not arguing semantics, I know loads about that actually, and pragmatics, stylistics and discourse analysis and all that, but that's by the by.

I'm actually arguing with what you said, that's he's invested £169m into Everton. He hasn't.

Cheers Terry

You're still wrong, sorry mate. He's spent £169m on moving Everton forward.

If he hadn't have spent £89m on acquiring the shares he would not have been in a position to spend a further £80m moving the club forward.

Thus, £169m spent. It's inarguable.

Cant beat a bit of discourse analysis Tezza ! Can you shed any light on the Availability Heuristic? just crafting a piece to reply to someone on my MSc and I'd spending too much time on here rather that trying to work out what he actually said.

Now you're quite right, but that's not the same as him having invested £169m into Everton is it.

As a large chunk of that amount has gone to Kenwright and Co.

Thanks Ted

Part owner! Let's be clear

Cheers Ted

Actually he'll never own the whole club, even if he was a squillionaire and really really wanted to.

16% of the club is made up of 5653 small shareholders, worth over £11m of the club's value. The shareholding of these small shareholders is massively scattered and would be nigh on impossible to buy out everyone.

I've made my point and made it well, I don't feel the need to keep flogging it

The private messages of support I've had during this exchange are testament to that

nothing is impossible, think on that
