Well tell Davek that I think we all knew that season was a fluke after going down 4 - 0 at anfield in 20 minutes. Koeman is a different prospect to El Brown Shoes.
That is total revisionist history. I'm sure you, like almost all of the rest of us, were loving that season. Sure, it turned out it was the emperor's new clothes, but we bossed some seriously good teams that year. Prove me wrong, vault yourself saying Martinez was garbage during that run. He turned out to be a fraud but that season was great fun and it diminishes your argument pretending it wasn't.

OK yes we're not being held back from spending 200 million quid because of compliance, but the point is the only place 200 million quid would come from is out of Moshiri's pocket.

We have spent more than the Stones money plus the increase in TV money. If we didn't then why did Moshiri have to give us an 80 million quid injection? The money has been spent on signing players and wages, plus the compo fees for Martinez and Koeman. Not to mention that we haven't received all of the TV money yet as we have an outstanding share of the 25% merit payments to be paid out to us.

"The statements from Bill were the one's about things never being the same again, the one's about Moshiri wanting more signings than Bill and so on and so on."

This is all vague. There's nothing specific in anything they've said to influence my expectations. The only people those with high expectations that haven't been met yet have to blame for that is themselves. Nobody's come out and said we're going to be marching up the table and spending cash like its going out of style. They've referred to it as a project and it is going to take time. People have let themselves get their expectations out of hand there has been so very little from the club, Moshiri, or Kenwright to give them these expectations.

My only expectation is that we perform and compete better than before. Anyone holding Moshiri up as a saviour is counting their chickens.

You've got a point about Moshiri speaking out about Koulibaly, but that is the only thing I think anyone can reasonably point to as a reason for inflated expectations.

I think so many of the people who are disappointed right now have read into things that weren't said by anyone.
You've got a heart of stone, my friend. I'm sure you're right when you say people have placed too much emphasis on somewhat ambiguous statements but to dream is to be human!

Sure it is, but then to hold other people responsible for your dreams not being realized is fairly unreasonable.

I too dream of us bossing the league and signing amazing players. I just understand the reality of the situation we're in and try to reign in the expectations because of that.

People are just venting on a forum. I'm sure deep down they know Moshiri is a investor and will spend just as much as he believes will get him the best return but after seeing the insanity of what went on at Chelsea then even more so at City and PSG people want a slice of it.

Not world class. Just someone who makes people stand up and take note. Someone who the casual observer wouldn't expect us to sign.

It's important for our status as much as on the pitch.
but said player has to want to come here and said player's team would have to agree to sell. We finished 11th the past two seasons and haven't won anything since 1995, hardly looks appealing to prospective players ( yes we have good history but it was 20+ years ago, Rom was 2 years old when since the clubs won a trophy). That's why it's so important for us to get European football of some kind next season

Just not sure who people want us to sign when the say "Big name players"

I look at Spurs and Liverpool who are in much better positions than us at present and who they have signed over the last 2/3 seasons, Which one of there signings would you say was a big name that sent out a statement

If we brought Messi they would only moan we didn't buy Ronaldo as well.

You would think the window was shut the way ppl are over reacting. Had Moshiri not come Lukaku would have been sold as well as Stones
