until we see the board take our commercial side seriously , then we wont be competing for anything other than 7th/8th/9th

we need to rival the top 4/6 COMMERCIALLY before we can spend big big big money.

so even if Usmanov did announce himself we are still 10 years behind the likes of the RS , Chelsea, United and Arsenal... closer to spurs and city but still light years off them.

Moshiri has not changed a thing at board level .. apart from appointments from within. this tells me he is happy with how we are being run. which inturn tells us all he is happy not competing on the pitch.
Haven't we spent more than a couple of those team in the last couple windows?

Look, we aren't going to rival the top 4/6 commercially any time soon. I hope one day it will happen, but it'll take some time.

No we wouldn't however he's spot on otherwise.

We were hugely reliant on firstly the commonwealth games bid and secondly a cash boost from the council.

As far as I know funding is no where near being arranged still.

We were never ever relying on the Commonwealth Games because it was common knowledge that we were never going to get the Games. It was always going to be the Birmingham bid because it was backed by Seb Coe and the London Olympics crew. For every major development in Liverpool the council is always hanging around with its 'cash boost'...and occasionally it happens.

Ever seen Farhad Moshiri and country star Jim Lauderdale in the same room?

Now you know im probably biased as I have a deep mistrust of Farhad,

This has been doing the rounds in our work today. Borrrowing money on the back of next seasons tv deal - this might be completely normal i dont know.

Someone please put my mind at ease

We and the majority of the clubs in the league have been doing it since the Premier League was formed.

It is normal, hence the bit that says "Everton join the list of clubs...". Moshiri will avoid putting any of his own money into the club unless he has to.

I tried to find a list but couldn't - does this mean we weren't doing it previously though as it says we have just joined it? Confused 'ere.

Leicester do, from the undead bank.

And apparently Man City.

And the horse punchers.

I'm sure there's more but I cba looking.

A “business” borrows money on the back of secured future cash injections from operations to allow itself to expedite growth.. the horror! Can’t think of any business that might do that... oh hang on.. every business in the world does that.

Just because we a club, doesn’t change that fundamental business principles need to apply. Don’t get me started on the concept of WACC please.
