To be fair the World Series is named after the original sponsor, it is not a "world" Series but a "World Series", a bit like The Milk Cup not having anything to do with milk. Dull as dull can be, but not pretending to actually mean the whole world.

As to cricket being boring, that is only ever said by people that do not understand it and have probably never played it.
