This club is absolutely circling the plug hole now.
Throwing away the structure of a club just to appease a manager that will be sacked before the new year was crazy.

We are back to the Walter Smith era at best.
Dismantling that structure wasn't the problem for me as it has been failing us for years, it was the timing. We had a perfect opportunity in the summer to let Marcel Brands leave for nothing when his contract was up and look to implement a new structure. Brands had done absolutely nothing to warrant an extension and with Ancellotti leaving as well as it was the perfect opportunity to sit down and take stock of where we are as a club and plotting the best way forward.

I think retaining Brands was a sign that Moshiri has emotionally and economically checked out of Everton. I think he was hoping that off the field Brands would continue to chip away at the wage bill by getting rid of high earners when their contracts expired (his only trick) whilst in Benitez he saw a safe pair of hands that would be able to manage Everton to least midtable with his eyes closed. Very little excitement about that but it keeps the Premier League money rolling in whilst the stadium is constructed and he could cut his investment accordingly in the playing squad whilst the value of the club sky rockets when the stadium is built where he'd then look to sell up.

I doubt Moshiri for one moment ever thought that Benitez would sail close to the kind of waters were any manager would legitimately deserve to be sacked. For all his faults, Benitez isn't somebody like Carlo Ancellotti who was happy to half-arse his work here because he knew he had an escape clause. Benitez has never been one to just accept his lot at a club, he always demands more from owners even going beyond what they can feasibly do. There's no denying he's a grafter, but also a total narcissist - very happy to call out the mediocrity in others who aren't doing their jobs properly (Brands, Donachie, Digne - there will be more to come) but he never recognises his own short comings and blames other factors for it.

What concerns me though is that Moshiri may be faced with the following decision. Is it more likely that Everton get relegated this season with Benitez in charge or next season with another manager in charge and also a points deduction? None of us know how serious the profit and sustainability concerns are and what the punishments could be for breaking them. There could well be a financial reality preventing us from sacking Benitez, if his rumoured £6m a season contract spread over three years is broken and paid up that could well be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Convinced he hates the club and the fans now.

Let’s look at the catalogue of evidence:

Financial ‘taps’ turned off under the cover of spurious FFP claims.

Continued retention of the waiter to spite the fans and the club

Communication via text message to journalists rather than official channels.

Refusal to attend any more games to show that he is answerable to no one

Apparently no one at the club dares to question him for fear of the stadium being scuppered.
That's one thing, I've noticed about him, he keeps managers, whether Martinez, Silva, or Benitez too long, so they end up being hated by the fans. Martinez should of been sacked after the derby, Silva should if gone after Norwich and Benitez should of been sacked after the derby. Tony hibbert said we had list our identity as a club from the very off and I agree with him. To spend the amount he has and not get anything from it, is ridiculous. Then you have the suspicious signings, buying Walcott and Iwobi with his connection to them is suspicious to say the least. Just like the rs are able to sell players to Bournmouth for ridiculous sums, not one if their players who has left has done anything under Klopp. It all a mess on and off the pitch, dm got rid of Beckford who was far better than Tosun, and that was when we had less money. Spending all that money in 2017 and being left with our 3rd choice right back at left back was unforgivable.

Right now on Moshiri's yacht

Moshiri appointed these people so he is responsible.

West Ham have hardly spent enormous amounts either. Almost every team who have moved to a new ground have regressed after it. There is no evidence a new stadiums moves us forward. The precedent from other clubs is that it actually makes you less competitive.

I would happily stay at Goodison and focus only on football.

They might be expanding soon but Leicester have a 32k capacity stadium and have had good success in recent years. Okay it's newer than Goodison but hardly a cash cow.

They've done well because they've got good people running the club, good scouts, good Academy bringing players through, owner making sensible decisions.

why do we constantly compare ourselves with other clubs that are well run, have good players or strong, modern managers? Right now I'd settle for last years version of Everton!

Is he sulking because of the protests over Benitez? Maybe Benitez was led to believe he was getting more money to spend but an angered Moshy turned the tap off once he signed up.

It was in the context of we must have a bigger ground and look at West Ham. That's not a really a comparison when a) West Ham were relegation fodder in their first few years there until Moyes turned things around for them. And b) it's a free stadium, they didn't have to pay for it. They've not spent a fortune either.

Leicester were used as an example of a club doing better than us with less crowds.

We all hope BMD will be the gamechanger but it's not always that simple. Arsenal haven't won the league since they left Highbury and The Emirates is a huge cash cow.

In order....

They aren't spurious claims. It's widely reported that we're goosed from an FFP perspective.

It's not spite. It's ego and ignorance.

He was communicating with his bezzy Jim white from day 1.

He attended a home game and clapped when arsenal scored. It's probably for the best that the dolt doesn't attend games.

Nobody will challenge him because they're getting paid a wedge to sit there and let him play real-life football manager.

All of the above in your opinion of course.

Just as I have my opinion.
