From the statement he made in the program today, the words that stood out the most to me were these:
"Goodison Park has served the club extremely well but..."

So we're moving then?

I'm not against moving, but only if the place we build has all the Goodison-Parkiness of my beloved Goodison.
People always say new grounds are "soulless" but that's not true. The Reebok, yes. Etihad, yes. Emirates, yes. But look at the King Power in Leicester. The exact same blueprints copied from the St Mary's Stadium in Southampton and yet they have turned that place into a fortress, and recently caused an earthquake.
Let's do that please :)

Yes that was my initial take on it. If the council gives us WHP for free then put your money on it, as much as I hope he gives a Goodison redevelopment the serious consideration it deserves.

People don't want to move from goodison because of the atmosphere we create there. Without trying to move away from the topic because we already have a stadium one - we can easily create a similar style ground with the crowd right on top of the play. With the way we play with pace and width we could probably do with a wider playing surface, but we're not going to be like that for the rest of time so that would be pointless. Anyway, the main reason why most of those stadiums are souless are because the fans are nowhere near the pitch - same with some european teams and their athletics track. It kind of detaches the fans from the players somewhat - we can definitely move and not lose that aspect if the right designwork is carried out.

Sorry, I didn't know.

That's very true, I haven't looked this up to check but I think Arsenal did exactly this when they left Highbury and built the Emirates. But like you say, if/when we get a different manager we might end up wishing the pitch was smaller.

Agreed. I really hope they consider this in the design process. Tottenham's new ground is a good example. The best example is probably the Bernabeu (RM) or Westfalenstadion/Sigunda Park (BvB). Both 80,000+ and you can smell the turf in the front row.

Moshiri can only have been delighted at what he's joined after today's game. His statement in the program was very positive. The fact he mentioned that we were the first club to print a regular matchday program was a nice (and subtle) point to make, showing he has bothered to learn about, and cares about, our history.

Obviously he can't parade around town in retro 1985 shirt with "I 8 Kopites" on the back, but I think he was trying to say "I'm one of you now".

He'll know that keeping the big-money axis of Stones-Barkley-Lukaku is pretty much priority number one.
Next, he's already talking summer transfers and stadium builds. He could have been shy and said "Hi, I love Everton, thanks for having me". But he actually stated some intent in that message. I get the impression he is a man who gets things done.

I cannot wait to see what he does. And I won't have to watch SSN deadline day from behind the sofa this year, that's a bonus in itself :)
I'm trying to stay calm but I'm really, really, excited!

I believe he has made a video pregame which will be aired on EvertonTV sometime soon? Should be interesting.

The King's Power is a woeful stadium.

Just looking at Bills face was enough..
He's sorted us out here.
Moshiri is going to do the biz, the young lads will be on mega long contracts before the season ends.

I believe the words are "There's Your Effin' Arteta Money"
Gotta say tho, I'm disappointed the was no centre circle dash, scarf above head, fist pumping, Sylvester Stallone routine. Modest entrance from our lad Farhad. ;)

He has sorted us out. I trust Moshiri, he's not a crook like Gaydamak and he's not a lemming like Lerner. He's not grinch like Glazer and he's not a C like Cellino.
I think he's a Nil Satis kind of a guy, and he'll spend the rest of this season fitting in, getting a feel for the place - then in the summer he'll put his gloves on and let the fox into the chicken coop.

On a side note - did anyone see the little plane flying around Goodison at about 3:30 this afternoon? I heard it and looked up expecting a banner! Made me laugh when I saw it was just a plane on a mooch.

It's quite likely they'll give us WHP for free now just to keep us out of the city centre. Especially since Moshiri has come on board. It means we could afford a city centre site if we wanted one now. Joe Anderson and the council might have to be a bit more respectful when they next sit down with Everton to talk stadium sites.
