Cant see them doing anything either way until after the FA cup final, maybe that is why we are hanging about on making our move, I dunno, but I think LVG will still be there in August, if they win that cup or get 4th no way will they let him go.

The FA Cup isnt important IMO, its garnish, 4th is the key.

I don't think finishing fourth would save LVG if United wanted Jose.

As we saw earlier on this season with City and with Chelsea in the past, these monied clubs will ditch a manager in a heartbeat if they think there is a better man out there, no matter how successful the incumbent boss has been doing.

I reckon it would. Woodward has shown he wants Van Gaal there - could have accepted his resignation but didn't, and getting back into the Champions League and likely winning the FA Cup will look good on Woodward for persisting with him.

That and Fergie and Charlton don't want Jose.

My take on it is that if they REALLY WANTED Jose they would have sacked LVG already and had him in place...in case they miss out. Or they have already signed him as earlier thought.
Something is going on in the background over there. They may still end up with him. But it doesn't appear they have the love fest with him as he deserves, and would receive here.

We'd parade Martin Jol as Jesus if he delivered silverware.

Jose would be full blown media coverage and excitement between the fans like we've never witnessed.

My nightmare...Goodison Park = Drama Theater
We're already trying to get rid of the theater experts...We don't need more drama!!!

seems he's not one for impulse decisions...or any decisions come to that, time will tell if this is good or bad.

2nd thoughts; just send him on gardening leave willya Mosh.

do something ffs

Jose could change Utd beyond all recognition over 3 years - doesn't play the kind of football Man Utd want, doesn't develop youth, comes with lots of baggage. Surely they'd have got him by now if they wanted him. The only thing missing from LVG's armoury at Utd is their style of play (as long as they finish 4th and win the FA Cup). Maybe the top brass at Utd would rather back him to make them even more competitive and attractive next season, rather than risking 2-3 years of uncertainty with Jose.

This, good point, forgot about them two lurking as back seat drivers.

Everybody has reported it, people choose to ignore it.

Fergie likes Jose but he doesn't want him there. Jose will be trying to beat Fergie by turning United into his thing and the way he operates.

Back seat drivers..

Who picked Moyes as the chosen one remember.

Bingo, Charlton seemingly has tonnes of sway there.

United, like ourselves, have a history of giving a manager a decent chance to prove themselves. Moyes was always on a hiding to nothing following on from Fergie. I genuinely believe LVG will still be there next season, 100% if they nick 4th.

United's dream is to keep Van Gaal until Giggs is ready to manage them, then for Giggs to be the next long term manager, playing football 'the United way'. In reality I think they'll cave and hire Mourinho at the end of this season.

Yeah 4th and a pot and he stays. I can't see Woodward sanctioning his demise if he delivers that.

5th and a pot and he'll have no doubt fallen short of his target for the season, so he's got 2 massive league games left.

Which could in turn impact on us.
