Well, that was out of left field!
Gotta be honest here; I'm a complete loose cannon, prone to massive grudges (sorry again Bryan!), I get easily annoyed and I'm possibly the worst choice imaginable for any sort of admin role on this site at all. Ever. In fact, there'd be alarm bells ringing if I was ever on such a list, as it'd indicate the lunatics were running the asylum if I were seen as a "sensible choice".
The main page thing is a very minor favour because I type quickly, but it gives me no authority on here over anything whatsoever.
Not to make this thread about me, but laughing hard at the "Tubey is a QC" rumour
I wish I was that successful! I studied Law, that's where that rumour ends
That said, it beats being called BlueBastardo!
Right, back on topic...
As for the idea, I don't see the point, for reasons already expressed. I also don't see any reason for the Mod system to be changed or the structure amended. Sure, they can make mistakes, but I think it'd be optimistic in the extreme to expect a flawless moderation system on a site as active as this. It's about as good as it can be, and I'm sure they're constantly streamlining their approach "backstage" in a secret forum.
I haven't seen anything to suggest the mod team favour users over others etc. Sure, I think they give some a bit of leeway where there's no severe intent to abuse the forum - more misguided stupidity that lands certain people in trouble over and over again - but I wouldn't say that I've ever seen a mod bend the rules to suit an agenda (or the like) of a certain user or group of users.
To be frank, GOT has actually been OK recently, considering we've only just came off a transfer window. A lot better than expected, and Groucho has been a very good pick for the team.
If anything, maybe one Mod short. I'd look at the personalities of all the mods, and scout around the user base to see if there's another personality that would fit in to the team, or someone who would be online at an hour that can be unsupervised. But even that isn't a matter of urgency; it's just something I think ought to be considered over the next 3-6 months as GOT expands, ahead of the next transfer window.
