Female fans getting hassle

This is appalling, sorry to hear that.

My girlfriend has had some nasty experiences over the last year or so around the game too.

Fellas on her row have sat down on her knee - despite their being empty seats to her left and right. They’ve tried to kiss her, grab her etc while celebrating.

Dont know why fellas are getting more empowered to act like horrible deviants at the game these days, but someone needs to sort it out

This behaviour simply has to be reported. O.k maybe not in the heat of the game where the individual is still around but with all the CCTV around at grounds watching the fans and easy ability to take seat numbers/rows and then look up addresses and interview afterwards.

Anyone can get lost in the euphoria of a goal and do something silly in celebration but using it as an excuse to sexually harass someone is not acceptable at all.

I get the feeling this is due to the increase of the white stuff being consumed on the quiet at most grounds now which is fuelling pretty obnoxious behaviour.

Avanti, like most train company’s, being completely useless.
Where’s BTP when you need them? Would it have been that difficult to get a couple of busys to the next station if passengers are being intimidated?

Difficult when you’re feeling a bit vulnerable but would have been good to get some images of these embarrassing clowns as I would hope the club would take it up with the London Supporters club to see if they were known.

From my experience if there's a major disturbance on the train then BTP will be called to the next major station and be waiting to take the individuals off the train.

With Avanti aswell it will only be stopping at main transport hubs rather than rural stations. I presume it was a Euston-Watford-Crewe-Runcorn-Lime street service?

Normally also a train manager in Coach C who should be getting in contact with BTP if there's a safety issue on board.

There has been more reporting of the vile behaviour, but it’s still so prevalent - especially on trains

I was horrified reading this when it was published

Thankfully this sad act seems to have been caught. Should be named and shamed

Yes, Euston to Lime Street. The train manager made the decision to leave these these guys in coach A on their own and get everyone else out of the way.

Have I just been unlucky or have other female fans been getting more hassle before and after games recently?

I’ve been going to the game for many years, with my Dad, husband, friends or on my own, and would previously have said it’s always felt safe, but within the last months I’ve had someone grab the waistband of my jeans in the pub and try to pull them down, then last night a group of fellow Evertonians took over the quiet carriage of the train I was on back from London, intimidated me and a few other women travelling alone, to the extent that I messaged Avanti and they advised me to move elsewhere, and then shouted a few nasty things after me as I left the carriage.
Thats quite upsetting to read, in my naivety i expected us as a fanbase to be above this trash behaviour. Im very sorry people are treating you like this, its absolutely unacceptable.

Whilst coke can certainly bring out the worst in some people, think it’s more to do with larger societal trends tbh.

This lot should have been kicked off the train.

Football truly attracts some of the biggest tossers in Britain doesn’t it? It’s an absolute disgrace what happened.
I gave my season ticket up when mcallister derby happened, the amount of kids I saw crying at their dads screaming at other fans (blues too) kicking off at reds fans who where in close proximity. It’s got nothing to do with drunk or drugs.

Some people are just scum.

I'm most surprised at the stats on dating apps increasing rates of male virginity rather than decreasing it. I innocently presumed it would have the very opposite effect. Its a long time ago now, but I had a much higher success rate via apps than I did in 'normal' life, but that was mostly because most of my friends (and I being one of the worst) were complete p1$$heads. I'd have killed for the likes of current tinder back in the day. I at least was a happy drunk rather than an assh0le drunk, with thankfully no recollections like the outlined above. So while the increased rate of Charlie is a factor, its not the only one, there's always been a percentage of people who get fighty the minute they start on the drink. I always learned to avoid hanging around with them when I spotted it, but I can appreciate that if its family it can be much more difficult to avoid all contact.

I was in the Upper Gwlady's for that game.

Witnessed much of what you detail, absolutely sickening stuff.

Put me off going for a good while after.

I am deeply sorry this happened to you. And irritated by it. It is a sad indictment of society today that this sort of stuff still goes on in 2024! I am personally saddened that it’s our fans. As someone who grew up on”It’s just lads having harmless fun” I would like to respond - No it F***ing isn’t!
I have 3 daughters and I am sure they do not share everything with me because it would cause me pain and anger in equal measure. There is NO place for this or Racism in football.
I wish they would expand the “kick it out” campaign to more obviously include both.

Disgraceful behaviour. They should be ashamed of themselves. Is there any CCTV footage that can be obtained and sent to the club? As for the pub incident, was the pub busy? If so, should've called him out publicly. Obvs wouldn't advise that if it meant it put you in danger, hence asking if it was busy.

Never seen anything like this from Everton fans in all my years travelling abroad etc. I remember seeing some teenage girls( Everton) in tears outside West Ham in the 90s but thats par for the course there. I do think there are a lot more drugs around these days in the UK.

I hope you reported the first thing you mentioned. That's sexual assault

I think its more of a look on society than actual 'Everton fans'
Based on which club you follow at a weekend does not make you any better or worse than any other person in the country (unless obviously you go to a BOSS night or love an acoustic Liverpool sing a long)

Drugs, social media, a country that doesn't look after its people, a media that lets people get away with murder due to there profile, reality tv, porn being so easily accessible to young men & Steven Bartlett can all be a cause for these type of things, its sad to say

And yet…?
