ah ok.

it'd be good for another series to have a go. FIFA vs PES is so stale now.

This is Football had a go back in the mid-00's...no contenders since then.

As a VR-player i'd be interested how VR-footie might work. Had a good FIFA 18 sesh playing on 'pro'-view controlling just one single player...was actually the most fun i've had on a football game since the PS2 Pro Evo days. Was quite realistic: had to look for runs, make myself available for a pass, look for players with space...all that good stuff.

I think any new game from Fifa and a new developer will probably focus on online play and an Ultimate Team style thing, where people spend lots of money on creating their team. Cheaper to make and generates more money than people who play offline career mode stuff.

ugh...not for me then...i don't understand why anyone would even want to pay money to create their own virtual team when that kind of feature had been free for decades (via Team Edits, setting up teams in Master Leagues, unlocking bonus classic players by winning tournaments etc).

tried online-play and it was full of weird lag and even weirder anti-football playing styles.

im the same, just do offline, player or manager career mode in Fifa or Master League as it was in PES

i collect old consoles and recently put in PES 5 in a PS2. It's still really good! Just fun, with challenging but not cheating Ai.

i'm tempted to start a Master League with the default players on hardest-difficulty. Can't get on with modern PES...alone that incessant flashing logo between plays and obligatory animations/replays do my nut in. And they've become a hand-achy chore to play.


Modern FIFA's are also weird, tried most of them and not a fan, tho' FIFA 18 for some reason is decent football. Just better than 17, 19, 20, 21. Can't pinpoint what's different, just feels more footbally.

Loved Actua Soccer on PS1, it had Barry Davis on commentary and was actually up to speed with what was happening on screen, still don’t think FIFA does that! Also liked Premier League Stars. That was PS1 as well, after each game you were awarded stars based on your performance and you could use them to improve your existing players stats or save them up to buy better players in the transfer market. Worth giving them a go, if you like retro games.

we had an Atari too: Frogger, Circus Atari, Space Invaders, Pacman and the great Yars' Revenge!

recently nostalgic curiousity got the better of me and i bagged a 2600 for cheaps on the ebay auctions...but no luck getting an image yet: it uses those old-school tv-cable sockets, and the adapter i have to convert it to composite was doing naff all.

You're probably better off finding an emulator and roms off the net. They're easy enough to find with a little snooping.

already went there, but they lack the all-important Atari-typical Joysticks and paddle-controls, and even have some input lag. Plus i enjoy the authentic feels of using the real deal.

i'll hunt around for a better TV/AV-adapter, should be doable. And i'll keep an eye out for Atari Pele lol


We (my lady and me) have been enjoying an original Megadrive playing classic platformers. These old games can still provide nice little bursts of entertainment. Graphics come and go, but gameplay is forever.

Apart from Matchday 2 when they added first time shots.

Glad they are changing the awful free kick mechanic for 23. Worst it’s ever been last few years.

Was very painful using Everton online last year. Especially when literally everyone uses PSG. Mbappe, Neymar, Messi, Di Maria against Mina and Keane. ?
