longers

The Clock stopping when ball is out of play should 100% be a thing and its pathetic that its taken this long to actually be considered.

I wouldn't be overly bothered about thrown ins being taken with feet either, it would have zero negative effect on my enjoyment of the sport although im not really sure what the point of it is. I might even take to 5 min suspensions for yellows as well if it helps stop snide challenges. Unlimited subs can get in the bin.

People will lose their mind over this stuff though, sport fans hate change.

Have the yanks taken over the game ffs? They'll be doubling the size of the goals next.

30 mins per half? Even if they demand a commensurate drop in pay and reduce gate fees to reflect a diminishing product thats still a naff idea.

In fact they're all naff ideas, but todays world if full of nomarks in a job desperate to make a pointless, unwanted or unnecessary change so they have something to put onto a cv.

Am so glad I've outgrown my interest in what was a beautiful game.

30 minutes is apparently the average length of time the ball is actively in play in a half of football. So you would be getting the same length half as before as the clock would be getting stopped each time the ball goes out of play. Why bother you ask ? In theory it will be a fairer and more accurate system, we wont have anymore 'where did that 5 minutes come from ?' discussions etc.

TV runs the game these days. Can't have them playing 45 mins without adverts.

The length of the half would be more or less the same due to the clock stopping when ball is out of play. The only effect this specific change will have on how you view a match is more accurate/fair time keeping.

They do it in other sports, fine. But doing it the current way is the way of football - which just happens to be the biggest most successful and widely adopted global sport there's ever been. Why should it follow the practices of less successful sports?

This reminds me if the early 90s when out if nowhere (possibly motivated by a government flailing to demonstrate control) we abandoned all kinds of procedures that made the British education system so effective over the previous century and adopted the US system.

30 years on we have dreadful levels of education and knife and drug problems in schools. Coincidence? We'll find out as the knives turn to guns and we produce legion of flat earthers in the next decade.

Still... mustn't grumble.

Just because something is less successful doesn't mean it isn't better in various areas. The NBA is less successful yet its model for keeping its league relatively competitive is far superior to anything in football. Football is broken in numerous ways and could learn a lot from other sports.

RB Leipzig U19’s recently played a tournament with these rules. It’s fun to watch but it’s not football.

The shorter halves combined with the clock stopping when the ball is out of play surely makes zero difference other than fairer time keeping and the elimation of time wasting ?

The other ones i can understand being odd but i cant really see a valid counter argument against better time keeping.

It was really weird. The kick ins were fun but I mean that’s what we do at 7-a-side not proper football. I think the yellow card sin bin wouldn’t work though just due to how card happy referees are these days. You’d have no one on the pitch in the end.

The best game in the world, played by millions and enjoyed by millions more, been going for well over 100 years….. but yeah… let’s change it

ffs these people should be nowhere near decision making positions in football

Do you like inaccurate time keeping and time wasting ? Are these the things that make the game great and popular amongst millions of people ?
