FIFA proposes new rules to Football

No but its pissed me off for many years and has always been a glaring flaw in how the sport is officiated. How many times have fans moaned about time wasting and Fergie time etc ? an awful lot. No more moaning about bias towards big teams (with regard to stoppage time), no more 'play on until Liverpool score' etc

The other changes I can fully understand people being against but there are no downsides I can think of to having the clock stop when the ball is out of play. All it does is make things fairer and kill time wasting.

The only downside to the clock stopping I can see is teams using it to deliberately slow down a game and take the heat out of the game if being put on the back foot. I’d like to see refs have the ability to keep the game flowing I.e. throws, corners etc being taken within 3/5 seconds of the referees whistle.

It was really weird. The kick ins were fun but I mean that’s what we do at 7-a-side not proper football. I think the yellow card sin bin wouldn’t work though just due to how card happy referees are these days. You’d have no one on the pitch in the end.
I remember years ago kick ins in the Ryman league for a season . They all became free kicks basically. Made the game very stop start.

The Clock stopping when ball is out of play should 100% be a thing and its pathetic that its taken this long to actually be considered.

I wouldn't be overly bothered about thrown ins being taken with feet either, it would have zero negative effect on my enjoyment of the sport although im not really sure what the point of it is. I might even take to 5 min suspensions for yellows as well if it helps stop snide challenges. Unlimited subs can get in the bin.

People will lose their mind over this stuff though, sport fans hate change.

If every time the ball goes out it becomes a set piece your enjoyment will 100% be effected because the game will become a constant battle of set plays. Sin bin is fine as tactical fouls are out of control. The 30 minute thing is a terrible idea. 45 minute halves with the clock running is more or less fine. It just needs to be stopped for injuries, VAR and really blatant time wasting. Unlimited subs also a horrible idea.

The weird thing is a lot of the stuff is based seemingly around commercializing it but commercializing soccer doesn't mean it needs to suit TV in the modern age.

Wouldn't the purpose of stopping the clock be to reduce the amount of time the ball is not in play? So why would they want to reduce the game to 60 minutes? Doesn't make any sense to me.
What would make more sense is for refs to utilise the current laws so that teams get more yellow cards for deliberate timewasting, and that includes players pretending to be injured and standing over the ball when a free kick is awarded.

Just because something is less successful doesn't mean it isn't better in various areas. The NBA is less successful yet its model for keeping its league relatively competitive is far superior to anything in football. Football is broken in numerous ways and could learn a lot from other sports.
Not sure this will make it more competitive with these rules.
The competitive advantage will be with the biggest side. Thowings will be come like corners. Fellani will play till he is 50. Crouch will come out of retirement. Coming off the bench for every dead ball situation.
Sam alladyce and Sean Dyche will finally get the recognition they want.
it all sounds amazing to me

I would like:

- more points for headed goals
- goalie in 'n' out
- different sized goals
- one player from attacking team can dribble along goal line from corners
- manager to go in goal during penalty shootouts

Football needs financial controls to make it competitive. That's really the beginning and end of the problem.

Is it though? Five teams (Lakers, Bulls, Spurs, Warriors, Heat) have accounted for 22 of the past 30 championships.

Yes? Four clubs have won 26 of 29 since the PL was founded and odds are it'll be 27 of 30 at the end of next season. And that's a competitive league.

I think with these rule changes nobody asks the most important question.

Does football need changing? Obviously a couple of areas need addressing but its the most successful sport on Earth for a reason. It doesn't need any mad game changing rule changes.

Do you like inaccurate time keeping and time wasting ? Are these the things that make the game great and popular amongst millions of people ?
I do.

Nothing better than an injury time goal. As long as your team scored it of course.

Time wasting is part of the game. Don't let your opponent do it.

It's not that easy when a goalkeeper takes the best part of two minutes over every goal kick though and doesn't even
get a warning off the ref during the full 95+ minutes.
Players going down with 'cramp' for another 2 minutes a time.
Making two substitutions with 30 seconds of injury time remaining etc etc.
it just completely ruins the game as a spectator sport.
