It wouldn't be the end of the world if Dinge needed to play a few games in the middle and the new lad took his left back slot. Either buy a first choice CB or nothing - I don't want a standby who plays a few games and picks up a salary for three years.

I would prefer we spend the money on a new keeper.

Digne is ok playing there against the likes of Salford, but he will loose out with headers in the box against better strikers

Whats the corelation between James and Koulibaly? If James was £50mil then we wouldnt have signed Allan or Doucoure.

Koulibaly would have been perfect when Moshiri bid £60mil for him when he arrived. Thats the time we should have got him.

Now youre talking about spending £50mil++ on a 29 year old who would be our highest earner.

Even ignoring FFP theres still a massive squad which needs gutting and other positions which need filling.

Look at City, they went and got Laporte from Spain...we should be looking at a similar profile to him. Or someone u23 who can become world class.

I know what you're saying and I agree re' headers but think of the benefits from his distribution. I could only be a short term fix as he would get targeted over the longer period.

There is a shortage of class centre half’s around, especially left footed ones. It’s difficult to get a top centre half in their late teens or early 20s as it’s one position you need experience to learn your craft. It’s all about decision making. Therefore we either take a chance on a relatively unproven centre half on loan and tolerate the mistakes he’ll undoubtedly make or buy a more experienced central defender that’s not quite top tier as the likes of them that are rated 40m+. Even the RS played a midfielder there today, there’s such a shortage of decent ones available. It’s why I think Ancelloti will get someone from Italy, a player and league he knows well and someone he can rely on.

Reckon Digne would move into CB, Nkoukou to LB if things got really bad. Vital we don't disrupt that midfield 3.

Wouldn't want to lose him from the midfield

I'd at least keep Gibson until the end of the window to give them a chance to bring in a loan
