Fiorentina V Liverpool – Dr. Joel Rookwood | Soccerphile Football | Soccer Blog

Immediately after the players had vacated the Florentine turf following the conclusion of a disappointing night for Liverpool. In an act that would have earned a lifetime stadium ban in England, a huge banner was unveiled at the far end of the ground. Not content at its initial position dominating an entire row of advertisement boards, the ultras holding the banner then proceeded to ignore the ‘advice’ of the stewards and march onto the pitch.
They stopped only when they reached the Liverpool supporters, where they took an almost regal bow and received a bemused applause by an away end clearly adopting a variety of interpretations of the text. The ultras then presented the banner to a Kopite. It read: ‘WELCOME REDS - YOUR STORY IS FOR US A LEGEND’. It may well have said: ‘thank you for killing 39 Juventus fans. The enemy of our enemy is our friend.’ Conversations with a number of Fiorentina fans before the game, including one I exchanged scarves with, concluded with their personal expression of gratitude for Liverpool’s behaviour at Heysel. My memory of a disaster that unfolded when I was barely four-years old is far from clear, yet I know enough to realise it is a source of nothing but regret and shame for any Liverpool fan worth his salt.

Disgrace that.

Notorious is the single word they were looking for.

When the riots were happening at Heysel my mum was in labour with me, crying her eyes out. I was born half an hour after midnight meaning I just missed being born on 1 of the worst days in the recent history of Everton football club. Meant I was 70 minutes away from getting a birthday present that would have probably been better than any I'll ever have in my life though.

they hate Juve and Roma apparently, so given the r/shoites history with Juve, their friendliness towards them is basically an endorsement of Heysel.
Yet we were held accountable for their actions at the time and also when we played Fiorentina, a case of 'we love the shoite so we have to hate you and treat you as if it were you that murdered fans in Brussels.'

tbh i dont know how we could expect anything any different from such a tin-pot regime that adopts the fsw's rotation system in it's parliament and official positions.

maybe the officials were got at by r/s, i.e. postings on forums pretending to be us, on our way for trouble ?
i wouldnt be suprised by that at all.

posted this yesterday after i read about them hating Juve. 11.16 am, i think i may have called this before dr.soccerphile or whatever he 's called.

the ultras have massive sway over there with the clubs, it was they who said that we were the worst hooligans in europe to the club and police. it was no doubt they who have told the club who then tell the cops to accomodate the Kopites so well, Liverpool Football Club and their supporters have been duped with this by the Fiorentina ultras, i would imagine that the supporters of Juve and the rest of Italy knew exactly what that banner meant. LFC should be disassociating themselves from it all and saying that they have taken the bait.

now that they have been found out they should deffo do the "FAT SPANISH WAITER" banner/card diplay at analfield as a way of saying sorry for using them to get one over on Juve.

Well you'd think being an Italian Gabriel Marcotti would have been onto that game. Yet on the CL highlights package on ITV last night he was purring approvingly about the banner presented to Liverpool fans by those g0bshites. I thought that feller had his finger on the pulse of the continental game?

I just received an email from Fiorentina, regarding the removal of fences, lack of extra tickets etc etc blah blah, kissing the r/s arshes.
this is what i sent to them.......

Dear sir, I am contacting you in disbelief.
Firstly I would like to congratulate you on your magnificent victory against Liverpool in the Champions League.
The matter that I am contacting you about though is with regard to the previous visit of my team Everton. Supporters of my team were made to feel very unwelcome by Fiorentina and also the people of Florence, sanctions were imposed to prevent supporters entering the city, extra ticket requests were refused despite the stadium not being full. We were basically told that we were not welcome, and we read newspaper reports saying that we were some of the worst hooligans in Europe. People who did attend were treated badly and were told that it was “because you are from Liverpool, what do you expect ?”. At the time we did comment that it seemed to be a case of mistaken identity and we were being mistaken for our neighbours. Glasgow Rangers fans were then welcomed with open arms in the next round, we all know what they then did in Manchester on the night of the final.
It seems that the other people from Liverpool (who uefa say have the worst supporters in Europe) were then given treatment that is so far from what we received that it is beyond belief, fences were removed for a better view, the city of Florence put out the red carpet for them.
Everton supporters have a record when travelling that is nothing like the one was portrayed when we visited, I hope that Everton Supporters represented our club in a positive way and that we left with a good impression, I certainly hope that we proved your fears of us to be incorrect. I would be interested to know if we did in fact cause more problems than Liverpool supporters, as history almost always says the opposite.
My hope is that if we should visit your city and club again, you will see that we do not come to cause trouble and we will be treated in a way that represents that fact, it is very difficult when we are held to account for the crimes of the supporters of Liverpool, when they are welcomed with open arms and banners that declare….'Wecome Reds, your story for us is a Legend'.

I thank you for your time and I hope that you will find the time to respond, as Everton supporters are confused as to why they received the treatment that they did ? I hope that we proved the fears to be wrong and left a good impression.

and the reply........

Dear Mr. Reidy of the Grecian Bottle,

I write to you from ACF Fiorentina with regards to your mail below.

First of all I’d like to express all our regret for the unequal treatment that Everton Supporters feel to have received. Undoubtedly there are many reasons for these feelings, however let me try to answer to some of your complains.

Regarding tickets, you should know that we must operate with respect to the Italian security laws: all the tickets must be complete of name, surname and date of birth of each supporter and all the opposing supporters must sit in a proper sector and not elsewhere in the stadium. That’s the reason why no extra tickets (over the capacity of our guest sector) can be sell even if the stadium is not full. These are national security measures that we have always to respect, not only on the occasion of UEFA matches. Your Club was well informed about our rules regarding match tickets and we always acted in concert with Everton FC.

Moreover, youmight remember that we offered to Everton supporters, as well as for Liverpool and for all the other foreign supporters, the possibility to have a rest and eat typical food in a free fan zone, inside an indoor sports arena very close to the Stadium. No extra services have been given to Liverpool supporters or to other foreign supporters.

Then, regarding fences removal, I must inform you that the removal happened on September 22nd on the occasion of the match of our national league, Fiorentina – Sampdoria and not, as you supposed, to offer a better view to Liverpool supporters. It was a decision taken many weeks ago by the Head of Police of Firenze; at that time we couldn’t even imagine that we would have been playing against Liverpool at the end of September.

At last, regarding what you unfortunately read on newspaper, please consider that it not depends in any way on ACF Fiorentina but on Florence journalists, and, even if we can’t apologize for it we’re very sorry that it happened.

I assure you that you have been treated exactly in the same way of other supporters from the rest of Europe and that there is no prejudice against you.

We hope to have soon the occasion to prove our good faith towards Everton supporters, in the meanwhile let me express all ACF Fiorentina respect and admiration for Everton FC and for its supporters.

Best regards,

Claudia Quattrone

BBC Sport - Football - Exit not disastrous - Carragher

Redshite defender Jamie Carragher has claimed Champions League elimination would not be a disaster as the club can fall back on the Europa League.
steeeeeeeeeeevie me laaars mate said:
If The Shabites were to bow out of the Champions League then the Europa League would, according to Carragher, be a welcome second chance for the Analfield club in Europe.
And the defender maintained that winning the Europa League would "put a different gloss" on a so far disappointing season, which has yielded only one victory in the last 10 games.

delusional to say the least.

that gobshoite betting fella in the mirror is rolling out "the [Poor language removed] are shorter odds than Everton to win the europa league this season"

apart from the fact he was trotting this [Poor language removed] out 2 years ago, he is only enforcing the fact that delusion reigns supreme for these belters.

there's even talk of a conspiracy with Lyon lying down for Fiorentina to shaft them, thus eliminating the shoite. Given the performances so far this season, they will get absolutely battered in the goblet.

btw Barca could also end up in the europa league come tonight.
