It would get not attention though as all the games start at once which I assume is another reason they wanted it the weekend before.i know the club were worried about title race/relegation taking focus off but theyve kind of messed it up asking for it to be penultimate game
if it was final game it would just be sunday afternoon
You're probably right, though I don't see why we want their attention, we're not Kopites. Saying goodbye to Goodison is for us fans, and Sky / TNT / The Prem can get f***** if they think they're going to take ownership of it.It would get not attention though as all the games start at once which I assume is another reason they wanted it the weekend before.

Exactly,I'm an Evertonian first and last these days whereas I used to consider myself a football fan above all else,SLY and the rest of the media have watered down my love for the "beautiful" game to the point I only watch Everton these days, poor sod that makes me eh?Genuinely couldn’t care less what sky have to say
‘I’m so sick of us being rubbish, we need to be run professionally and make more money through sponsorship and marketing so we can compete at the top’.
‘I’m also so sick of the media fawning all over the top 6 and never paying us any attention’.
‘God I hope they don’t have one of the most famous people in the world performing at the final game, and I’ve heard rumours they might even televise the thing which would just be awful.’
Absolute loons some of you honestly.
I think you are MASSIVELY underestimating modern media. Like to an incredible extent.I think you and others are vastly overestimating the marketing potential of one game of football.
This shouldn’t be about marketing.
It’s one game, the last game at Goodison. Let’s not turn it into one big advertisement.
I think you’re humongously overestimating the interest from outside of the fanbase.I think you are MASSIVELY underestimating modern media. Like to an incredible extent.

Quite the opposite really, that’s kind of the point? I think it being rammed down people’s throats how big a thing this is would be a good thing, because otherwise loads of people won’t care. Saying ‘ah people don’t care’ is how you end up accepting your lot as an also ran. It’s not exactly a complicated PR strategy to say it would be good if we got more exposure but yeah, let’s refuse to let the cameras in and reap all the benefits of nobody knowing we exist, that sounds like a really good plan.I think you’re humongously overestimating the interest from outside of the fanbase.
I didn’t give a monkeys when Arsenal left Highbury, I gave even less of a toss when West Ham left Upton Park… Same goes for all the rest.
Goodison is slightly different given the history, tradition and ‘football firsts’ but only your purists will really be bothered about that.
Sky will want to bum it up because there’s not a lot else going on in the league.
How much interest and money do I think PAUL MCCARTNEY playing at a stadium could make? Absolutely chufffing loads mate. The social media interest in that would be off the charts. Massive social media interest means massive sponsorship opportunities. Massive sponsorship opportunities means more money for the team. This is proper basics like.I’m not.
This is one game of football. Just how much interest and money do you think it’s going to generate?
Save the marketing stuff for the new ground. Don the whole thing in advertisements for all I care.
The last game at Goodison shouldn’t be a marketing exercise.
