Financial Fair Play investigation

The reality is until you have commercial clout and a global fanbase then the top of table will look very similar year after year, its designed for that to happen.

You might get a Brighton or an Everton who step into it now and then but its not sustainable because the players who have got you there will be poached which then makes you weaker to go again, rinse and repeat.

If you throw money at it and bumper contracts to keep or sign average players like we have you will find yourself in the position we are in right now.
I see Villa and Newcastle going the same way in a couple of years.

But why would they even want that at this stage? It’s virtually impossible for the near future at least. They could continue to be a top half premier league team for the next decade. It’s what we should have done instead of spunking tonnes of cash on overpriced players.

I bet they have contingency plans in place for every player they lose with multiple targets already identified. Even if their manager leaves.
Totally agree mate, and for sure they have a plan A-B-C for every eventuality, that's a great business model.
This is my problem with modern day football though, as a fan i really don't want to be talking about men in suits and number crunching i want us to be winning stuff (football) like we all do but sadly we are all wrapped up in numbers.

Just existing in PL with no hope of achieving anything bores me, sadly that's the ambition of most clubs because of the money at stake if it fails.

Winning at Anfield or Old Trafford has become the pinnacle of a season. Its grim

Isn’t the city thing nothing to do with losses, but rather they have been inflating sponsorship above market prices and been giving backhanders to managers and players off the books.
Yes, that is my understanding but those things have a direct impact on losses. If they paid Sven an extra 2m a year in cash under the table that is a 2m a year loss they haven't accounted for

Because they did not supply the relevant information.

The league raised questions, and Manchester City refused to engage in the process.

It has not taken Accountants 14 years to understand their Income statement. I mean, the ignorance for you to think that's what's happened.

Politely, you do not understand the process at all lad.
Again you have that wrong. They were charged with more than that and the failure to engage only covers a five year period. Suggesting to people that they don't understand the process. when you clearly do not understand it is laughable.

To be fair USM paying £30m for first refusal on naming rights for the stadium is along those lines. The PL should've laughed them out the building for trying that, i can't believe they accepted it

Manchester Citys accounts were highlighted, and it's taken a long time to get the information they are after as they have withheld.

It couldnt be more different to Everton, who were very transparent with the league.

I'm sorry, but it does not take years to analyse an income statement. And it has not taken until 2023 to charge 2009 accounts.

If it takes years to resolve, why did it only take 3 weeks to make a decision on the 2021/22 accounts?

I don’t know enough about these matters, and I don’t doubt what you say, but if that’s the reason why, you’d think they’d have processes which allow them to bring charges the equivalent of obstruction of justice which also carried significant penalties e.g. Hefty fines, transfer embargoes, points deductions, fines and demotions
