Financial Fair Play investigation

Manchester Citys accounts were highlighted, and it's taken a long time to get the information they are after as they have withheld.

It couldnt be more different to Everton, who were very transparent with the league.

I'm sorry, but it does not take years to analyse an income statement. And it has not taken until 2023 to charge 2009 accounts.

If it takes years to resolve, why did it only take 3 weeks to make a decision on the 2021/22 accounts?
Of course, it doesn't take years to investigate an income statement but not only does the work need to be prioritised and scheduled but it can take years to do a forensic analysis of an income statement and this requires further information that may not be readily available. As regards it not taking until 2023 to change them, were they not charged in Feb 2023 for FFP breaches in 2009?

But theres a gap between charging, and not accepting.

If you feel they need to be investigated, that can and should be done quickly. Resolving that investigation can take time (as it has with City) and may never lead to a charge.

If you have not highlighted accounts in 1+ years, those accounts are de facto accepted. Clubs will work to those figures being accepted, and plan accordingly.

Of course it is.

If you pass information to a regulator, and they do not query it, it's been accepted.
this is simply incredible

Underpay your taxes online? HMRC might not query them, but that doesn't mean for one moment that they’ve been accepted.

Now, there’s every chance we’re innocent, but your argument is sadly a fool’s argument.

I don’t know enough about these matters, and I don’t doubt what you say, but if that’s the reason why, you’d think they’d have processes which allow them to bring charges the equivalent of obstruction of justice which also carried significant penalties e.g. Hefty fines, transfer embargoes, points deductions, fines and demotions

Well they have over 100 charges, and some relate to this.
