Financial Fair Play investigation

So the rules are there to stop cubs destroying themselves. But if you dont follow the rules, they'll punish you and destroy the club anyway.

We all know the rules were brought in to stop sugar daddies gatecrashing the champions league places. Chelsea managed to sneak in but there's no more room.

However, notwithstanding the above. We knew the rules and signed up to them. So it's a double whammy for us. Excluded from any chance of dining at the top table but we are run by an incompetent board to boot. Woohoo
It was the PL clubs, including Everton that voted to bring in these rules in the first place

Doesn’t using that as an excuse just shine a spotlight on Usmanov’s illegal connection to the club though?

It's not really mitigating circumstances to say your shady funding deals with a shadowy undeclared owner fell apart because he was sanctioned for being cronies with a warmonger. If anything that's a can of worms that could make things much worse.

It's not like it was kept in secret, it was plastered on Goodison and FF. It will be in the accounts the year before and depending on renewal dates (did they pay before any links to Russia became non grata?) there will be a hole in the budget.

As long as the club is all in Moshiri's name and it's watertight I expect them to fight on that basis.

Along with all our transfer activities, but that doesn't seem too truthful does it considering the time period they're investigating.

Dunno mate. Maybe a few clubs pushed back at the PL, and the PL decided to refer to the independent panel to take the heat off.

How does this work while the RS are demanding their pennypinching owners magically make hundreds of millions available to them? Just wondering... I mean, surely they wouldn't get some kind of dispensation or something... :dodgy:

They make an absolute fortune every year so they can afford to spend eye watering sums of money. We make no money so we can’t.

In the unlikely event of a transfer embargo of a window - am I right in saying that a club would then have the right to appeal this to the Court of Arbitration for Sport?

If so, and the commission report concluded we had a transfer ban for next summer we'd be able to get past that window and buy the strikers we need.
Would the argument to CoA be that although as a club, Everton voted to bring in these rules, and now that you may have broken the rules you don't like them?

On the plus sidez if we smash this with city maybe it could persuade the mosh to splash the cash and back a decent manager to get us back up the table?

Maybe this killed the MSP deal? Anyway the PL and their rules are a joke. I hope EFC and MCFC take them to court and destroy them

The ironic thing about all this is it’s not like we’ve broken rules to make ourselves better have we? We’ve literally broken rules to make ourselves worse 🤣 So we’ve gained nothing. At least city broke rules and actually achieved something. Honest to god this board and owner are by far the worst in the league.

The penalty cannot be relegation, it can result in the club being kicked out of the Premier League. There is no guarantee that the club will be given a place in the Championship, the Championship clubs need to vote on whether to accept the club into the Championship or not. If they vote against it, then the relegated club applies to L1 and so on until a league accepts them.
The rule book says it could be a financial penalty, or “a sporting sanction of any kind”
