Financial Fair Play investigation

When Everton are involved they go by a different rule book.
Do u realise how comments like that and many many others on here just make Everton sound like a small club? Fans blaming refs, FA and luck, or lack of said, is typical of a small club. Where is the Everton that I grew up admiring gone? Way too many on here are looking for conspiracy theories and acting like you are Birmingham or Baggies fans. No club has been in the PL longer, will you grow a pair and act as fans of the stature of a club the size of Everton FC should act.

Ok , you obviously know more about this than I do , they‘re saying 2021/22 season can you explain how we managed to lose £100 mill last season , my memory is we bought Gray for £1.5 mill , Myko and Patterson for at tops £35 mill , sold Digne for £25 mill and Richie for £65 mill . Even with our high wages how come we lost £100 mill+?

We probably havent made a loss of £100mill for last season. But it's the accumulated loss over a rolling 3 years (4 years due to COVID).

From what I've read the 2 COVID years we made a loss of £268million. Last season with what you've mentioned, should take the lot down below the £105million. Which keeps the wolves at the door.

The league have referred it to an independent panel I'm hoping just to cover their arse on the back of the complaints made by Burnley and Leeds.

We've apparently been speaking to the league for seasons in regards to our financials, and they're the ones that have signed off on any transfers we make.

I mean that's one view of it.

Another is that we were forced to cut a sponsorship arrangement deemed to be fair value by the league as a result of one of the shareholders being sanctioned by the government.

That has nothing to do with ownership. As far as the premier league and the tax man are concerned Moshiri owns his Everton shares, not Usmanov.
It would wouldn't it because the BoD or owners got into that sponsorship deal and even if it was not their fault…..normal sponsorships are then replaced (even if not worth the same value) by other sponsors. It doesn’t even have to be in that year, but enough in other years to bring the losses under the three year average threshold of 35m pa.

What the curtailing of that specific sponsorship showed was that it was a unique sponsorship which indicated the ties between our owner and the benefactor. It was extraordinary in that sense….we just needed to replace their sponsorship with a replacement sponsor for the training gear and ground which may have replaced some of the lost revenue, but we haven’t because we are commercially inept.

With all due respect mate, and I appreciate our clubs are of a relatively similar size to one anothers, I don't think you can possibly account for how much having to share a city with the FA's golden children media babbys can absolutely frazzle our heads

That era is long gone as it is for you

That's what happened.

The sponsorships aren't worth the same value and even what we got before was still insufficient to cover our book losses.

We have been desperate for commercial revenue growth for decades

It doesn't help that the time this deal needed replacing found the team at its lowest ebb in 25 years. We are at least marketable now than we were when we signed those initial deals.

There are factors that have nothing to do with Usmanov.

Covid losses aside. Surely common sense needs to be given. We lost are 2 main sponsors due to war in Europe. Not our fault and we did the right thing in cutting ties. I’m not saying the club is ran crap because it is as we have have wasted money. But you get articles saying 700 million spend yet don’t say we have sold 450 million of assets too. Stupid thing to say but last 3 seasons should just be pushed aside due to covid and a major war in Europe.

A big fine, yes.

They also know that the government value the PL and it's model in selling its 'brand' as a spectacle around the globe. A product that would be weakened if one of the 20 clubs had a points deduction to make up.

I'm not being optimistic. It's realism.
*IF* we avoid a points deduction, the big fine will come with a transfer ban at minimum.
