Financial Fair Play investigation

Just annoys the flump out of me. Forest who are in for the thick end of 200 million in transfers just this season alone - ok they probably have a lot on the drip over the next few years, but with wages and replacing some of the gash they have now they are not coming out of a 3 year period under 105 million losses.

Chelsea are doing god knows what. Utd are 1 billion in debt. City and Newcastle can make up whatever sponsorship deals they want being owned by countries.

If we were flying in the league and breaking rules then someone might have a point about financial doping helping us, yet here we are struggling because we are trying to hit the targets given by selling our best (or biggest in the case of Gordon) assets. If Putin hadn't invaded Ukraine we probably would have had another what 60 to 100 million more in sponsorship and that changes the picture completely. How is it possible to budget in advance for your main source of income just disappearing overnight without just selling everything and everyone to compensate?

That in turn would put the club at risk of surviving which is exactly what FFP is dressed up as to help prevent. I think we'll get away without sanctions because of that fact but FFP needs a rethink now.
Excellent post.

Some right crying going on here. The EPL should throw these teams out for bringing the game into disrepute….

Let's think about this the Premier League we're passed off our ffp calculations/ findings, so any lawsuits should be directed at the Premier League and not us.

Some awful reporting as always. Claims that Leeds and Burnley’s letter last year prompted a 10 month investigation leading to the current charge. Thought everyone knew all 19 clubs were told in a PL stakeholder meeting that we had no case to answer, and those two clubs were pulled to one side to really really tell them we had no case to answer.

As if Burnley last September would have been that confident of automatic promotion that they’d just sack off hassling us if it was going to cost them £100million.

They started writing those articles as soon as we scored the 3rd against Brighton. Taken them a week and a half to spell check them.

I now hate Forest, Leeds (the most) and Leicester more than the like in Newcastle and Spurs.

Not arsed about Soton they are down.

The club should sue him if it’s all made up.
Written by the same tit:

‘The Everton charge is very surprising,’ an executive at another club told the MoS. ‘We sat in front of the Premier League around March last year and they categorically told us there was no case to answer.

‘Then in the summer we were told Everton could sign players as they were working together with the league to stay the right side of the line, and their Covid losses made them compliant. The Premier League made these points in open meetings and also held private meetings with individual clubs who had expressed concerns.’

Good luck to those clubs suing the PL. You’d be blessed with very bendy VAR lines for all eternity.

I mean the league is essentially un-winnable for anybody who isn’t rich enough to be too much of a banker for the PL to go after. Folk go on about match fixing but it’s already rigged to a point much worse than that. What’s the point of watching a competition your team can’t win?

This is where I've been at for a long time now.

The league is only ever getting 'more competitive' outside of the top 8 so it makes you wonder what's the point of just endlessly watching us finish a season anywhere between 9th-17th year after year. It's getting extremely boring..

The only way to fix it is a UEFA wide cost cap.

Every club has the same fixed number they have to comply with that covers the entire operation.

No grey areas, you go over you're penalised in a sporting sense as opposed to a fine.

The problem is, it's so simple it will never happen.
