Financial Fair Play investigation

I know Toney needed to get some sort of ban but you’d think he’d seriously harmed someone. They’ve even banned him from training for four months- what do they think a guy with a gambling problem is going to spend his days doing if he can’t even go to his work? The FA are a joke when it comes to this sort of thing.

Nice long break for him, presume he's being paid.

Brentford the real losers here.
Not really, 2 games to go till the end of the season, Toney likely was going to be sold anyway, they have a striker they spent money on not long ago who has hardly played, It's Brentford and they have a pretty good track record in recruitment so I think they will replace him fairly easily.

He can still gamble, just not on football.

I actually read that as 'business for self', which was a company acronym when I was in banking two decades ago, before I realized you meant Allardyce in context.
No way that was ever an acronym, not in any field. An initialism perhaps, but there's no chance it was ever an acronym, it's virtually unpronounceable.

At least he still has a job to go back to after his punishment [sic]
Tony Kay certainly didn't after a custodial sentence and a lifetime football ban.

Was he going to be sold? If its this summer his value has taken a hair cut. He's out until the Jan window - so he's going to be sitting on his sweeney for half their season. They are the big losers in all this for me.

I have tons of insane stories from that era. I suspect that the point was to be able to say someone was self-employed, which killed a deal far more often than not, without being judged by other customers (or that customer) in an open office environment.

It's sort of like how the airlines over here communicate over the loudspeaker in code only the employees understand.

My point is it doesn’t help someone who might be struggling with a gambling issue to have them sitting bone idle in the house for four months. What harm does it do to let him go to his work? He hasn’t killed anyone.

Not even sure if he still has an issue with gambling. From what I picked up, all the bets were placed before he even joined Brentford. Silly young man basically. There are 2 golden rules for footballers, at any level. Dont bet on football, and triple check any supplement/medicine you want to take.

Exactly, they all know they can’t do it and that the punishment is severe, so the fact he couldn’t stop himself tells you there is or was a problem. Hopefully he is past it now but I just don’t see how banning him from routine training is a necessary punishment as it risks making the issue worse.

The other lot (i.e.) relegation threatened clubs are talking about suing us for £300 mill.

Everton could face a £300million legal challenge from rival clubs if they avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

The Toffees were charged by the Premier League with an alleged breach of financial fair play rules in March. The club have posted staggering losses of £372m over the past three years, in excess of the £105m limit.

Everton have denied any wrongdoing - they have also not been found guilty of breaking any rules - and vowed to “strongly contest” the charge, which could carry a substantial points deduction if proven. But that punishment isn’t the only possible outcome, with Southampton, Leicester, Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Burnley all eager to pursue compensation as well.

The Daily Mail reports that the five angry clubs applied for Everton’s disciplinary hearing to be fast-tracked so that any punishment dished out would be applied to the current season. The commission looking into the allegations rejected this request, prompting the clubs to lodge legal papers making them party to the dispute.

While there are five clubs involved, the £300m claim would be brought by the two clubs who are relegated alongside Southampton, were Everton to avoid the drop. They believe they would be entitled to £100m each, which is an estimate of the loss of Premier League income for one season after the deduction of parachute payments.

Despite winning the Championship to return to the top flight at the first time of asking, Burnley due to their annoyance over Everton’s finances from last season. Burnley’s relegation last season meant they missed out on valuable TV money and the drop meant they were forced to repay a £65m loan early.

They do not attribute their relegation to their poor play, oh no It is all down to Everton surviving by getting more points than them whish was unfair !!!!!!!!!
