….you read this forum and virtually every poster is critical of the way the club has been run. The argument is whether a points deduction is an appropriate and proportionate penalty and understandably some think decisions are heavily weighted in favour of clubs who are cash cows of TV companies.
I've seen a lot of this type of criticism, and I think two viewpoints are being bound up together.
There's a difference between thinking this is some sort of conspiracy against us and bemoaning the fact that we are precisely the right size and shape of club to be made an example of.
I don't think there's anything inherently anti-Everton (or therefore pro-Liverpool) about the treatment we get. It's more that we're a big club that's not big enough for special treatment.
You only need look at the way the Super League 6 were 'punished' to see that the league authorities stay their hand when it comes to punishing the clubs that keep the league so globally dominant in terms of revenue.
Nobody is arguing that the Super League wasn't a disgrace, but ultimately it's exactly what Everton did with the formation of the Premier League so constantly bringing it up just smacks of hypocrisy to me. I don't want to tempt fate, but the chances are we will get a slap on the wrist in the same way the "Big 6" did when they wanted to jump ship.

Yes and no, I do fundamentally agree with what you are saying but there are various "Individuals/groups" within the establishment and the authorities who don't like the fact we had Putins mate hovering about in the background and the various sponsorships we had with Russian based companies. Having said that you could argue that against any of the state owned clubs also. It's all very frustrating.

The information flow is properly weird, all mixed in with media fingers in the air and partisan lobbying.
I was fully against the Telegraph nonsense in that they surely didn’t get a leak from the confidential and independent hearing, had to be made up. But then you hear Simon Jordan seemingly knowing the PL’s first presentation to the commission last week was pathetic but they have since improved. That’s a very specific comment. He can be a tit, but he does deal in facts generally.
Will just await the simultaneous beeping off my devices saying we have been eradicated from football history and deducted 1 point.

If we've been found to break rules fair is fair. The problem is inconsistency. City will likley get away with a lot worse. The super league break away clubs got away with it. "Not punishing the fans" was seen as a reason to let them off. But they'll be more than happy to punish all of us. Because, frankly, the PL will be fine without us.
The creation of the Premier League is in no way comparable to what they were trying to do with the European Super League, you absolute mad man.
The ESL would have been in essence a closed shop and removed all meritocracy, and would have ripped the domestic football pyramid apart.
And it would have scooped up all the money into the new show (it wouldn't have been a competition) so the domestic leagues would have been starved into oblivion
