Fireworks, and dogs

My Smudge (a rescue dog) was terrified of aircraft - a problem since before we knew this we moved near RAF Fairford, which is where the USAF use us as aircraft carrier Great Britain. Particularly thoughtful when a B52 takes off at 5.30 on a Sunday morning.

He was also terrified of thunder, dark clouds, rain, the sound if rain, the prospect of rain and with age and experience even fluffy clouds. He was also terrified of water and rivers. A problem when I lived on a Dutch barge. Also cars and anythng else with an engine.

Fireworks? Absolutely zero problem.

We didn't ask for airplanes to stop, cars, rain or cluds to stop just because he was scared, even though this was almost daily. Anyone either a dog that gets scared for just a week and wants to ban that week needs to realise that there are more people than themselves - live and let live.

Would love to seen them banned.

Genuinely don't see the point in them, for anything.
you probably shouldn't let any off. You will have made your full contribution to the subject then.

anything I dont like, we should ban, smh, the world should be set up along the lines of my personal preferences, and if people or dogs have different personal preferences, well I guess mine don't matter?

not picking you out personally, but if you feel you should have some say about what I do, should I have some say about what you do? Think very carefully before answering.

I haven't let any fireworks off, I don't like them, I'm not 3.

I never said they 'should' be banned, I said I would love to see it.

My personal opinion is that people who are fascinated by and excited by fireworks are a bit wierd. Not picking you out personally.

The fascination with them is a very odd thing. The vast majority are absolutely woeful aswell, a simple whizz and a bang.

Let me be straight here. Professional shows are a different animal, they can require thought and precision planning, often a visual accompaniment to a showcase, though I have no idea why they must bang cause you can get silent ones.

These home show chumps though, christ it's odd.

….they should be restricted to displays. Saying that, when I was a kid in the 60s we were reckless with fireworks and bonfires, presume animals suffered back then but don’t remember it being an issue.
I don't remember there was as many dogs in those days but I do remember more dogs roaming loose.
