Thought it may be a good idea to have a thread on this given times are a bit tough to say the least and quite a few of us like and want to cook well whilst saving a few quid.

I’ve always tried to food plan and shop local, get the fresh stuff like fruit and vegetables from the local farm shop on a Sunday for the next week (always was cheaper than the supermarket) and nip to Aldi or Lidl after that for the rest. However the costs are now seem very sporadic and it’s hard to budget ahead.

I’ve reluctantly started online shopping more so recently and found good value for money on the special offers. The frozen veg offers are great.

How do you manage it? Any good deals tips you’ve seen recently, might be worth posting on here and we can all grab that bargain offer too!

We tend to shop around everywhere M&S sliced large loaf only 75p baked on their premises brown or white ....
Tesco - using their card many special offers
ASDA - eggs etc best VfM
Aldi - best anti Lactose milk
Home bargain - best VFM
Shop around that's the key....

We get all our meat from here.

The £35 hamper is great value and it’s much better quality than the supermarkets.

We top it up with the 3 for £10 offer they have and that’s us for the month.

Supermarket meat is hardly worth buying these days. I think Aldi and Lidl are the only ones with decent quality but the prices have rocketed.

...especially with stuff that has a long shelf life, soap, deodorant, whatever; If you can obvs, stock up and buy stuff when it's on 'special'

Yep, this is the only way to do it now and it’s hard to keep up with what offer is where! One thing that does kill me is when I’m really stuck or in a rush and I “nip in” to my local COOP grab a basket or handful of stuff and it’s about £50! And to think it used to be a shop for the people..

We stopped shopping at the COOP as your bonus points money if not claimed by the end of December - they just disappear no statement of where the cash off your members card went - plus it's so expensive in there .....
