Not sure if there has been a thread on book recommendations before so forgive me if there is an active thread but can you please add your football book recommendations here for both Everton and non Everton books đź‘Ť

Also, @alan ball is the author of a few Everton related books. I'm sure he could help.

The best footy book I`ve read bar non, is the bio of Nicklas Bendtner - Both Sides.

It`s not you`re usual bio, ghost written by someone who can`t really write, as Bedtner writes most of it himself and he`s very obviously a bright fella.

It`s brutally honest about how he wasted his talent and a fascinating read.

Does he mention the fine for his undies?
Which I recall was higher than a racist fine...

The Football Man written by Arthur Hopcraft.

It was written in the 60s but is very good and has a chapter on Tony Kay.

On of the quotes I remember is describing “the collective vindictiveness of the Goodison crowd”…plus ca change!!

Ive read the secret footballer, (Think its Dave Kitson) who's played in the PL championship and league 1.

He goes on about how toxic professional football is and the bullying in some dressing rooms.

If i remember right i think he says you would be surprised how many clubs in the championship don't want to get promoted to the PL.

Broken dreams by Tom Bower.

The Football business by David Conn

Dream on by Alex Finn.

All written in the nineties and early noughties but giving a good insight into how football was changing plus a host of unsavoury characters.
