"For clubs like Everton, frustration mounts in watching foes spend big"

The agenda driven drivel the media has come out with over the past 18 months regarding 'EVERLOAN'

Then United go out spend £6 million on one. No one says a word.

Then we buy the player and they don't even acknowledge it!!! !!!! :whip:

:coffee:
Clubs loan players in and put every year and have done for a long time. But because we threatened to knock one of the sky four or six or however many it is out of a CL place all of a sudden it's a scandal.

'EVERLOAN'

:coffee:

Then we go out and spend £28million on a player.

Then they white wash it from history.

are we still getting Cleverley ?

No mate. United doing something very strange.

Apparently from what I can make out they DEMANDED

We matched Aston Villa's ridiculous £8million fee.

We said "HAHA, no".

They then wouldn't speak to us. Probably still fuming about Fellaini.

Then they loaned him to Aston Villa. They'll probably sell him now for £2million or something.

Posturing from "Manchester United". Nothing more.

They're hurting.

Villa haven't really got £8million to spend. It was to try and entice more money out of us by the looks of it.

but you promised

We overachieved in terms of wage bill which is actually the most accurate predictor. As Davek said nothing to really disagree with.

I think there's plenty to disagree with. Paying someone huge wages is not a guarantee of success, nor any sort of indicator that they're a better player than someone who plays for Everton. The past 10+ years have shown that, season in and season out. A club being financially mismanaged and paying their players far more money than their ability truly deserves does not mean that club has any more intrinsic right to 'achieve' than Everton does.

Again, it all boils down to a skewed media perception. Someone who is massively against the Everton board (I'm not judging!) will of course agree with an article that somewhat patronisingly laments Everton as an also-ran, because that person's main desire is for the current board to leave and be replaced by substantially richer people.

My own response to that would be: we would all like that, but it isn't that simple, and also, I am not convinced that even if we had richer owners that our media perception would change at all.

You say the media have a skewed view of our players.Yet It doesn't seem to stop them trying to unsettle them every sodding window....the media know we have the possibility of reaching those hights with the team we have, but for some reason it scares them all daft.

I'm not buying all this kopite-esque 'the meeja have got it in for us' crap.

Admirable attitude squire, but things like this:

and when BTSport did a show on 'Race for the Top 4' in the middle of the season, focusing on the teams 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th (ignoring Everton in 4th at the time) really do show 'an agenda'.

As does the likes of 'Mirror Football' and the tabloid press.

Yeah, that the irony of it all mate. They malign us, play us down, talk about how we overachieve.... yet then link all of our players with moves to the 'top 4' clubs. They're trying to have it both ways - either our players overachieve and are by definition not good enough for 'top 4' teams, or our players are good enough for the top 4 teams and therefore, Everton are actually a good team that isn't actually overachieving.

This contradiction illustrates that there is substance to the media bias claims and that it's not just paranoia.

Don't care though mate. If they want to ignore us, then let them. It achieves frig all apart from making themselves look either incompetent or unprofessional.
