Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

FYLDE SLIP UP

YORK SCORE.webp

Wright-Phillips scored on the stroke of half time from inside the penalty area but a battling second half display from York was enough for them to grab a draw at Mill Farm. Hughes scored a long range effort as Fylde failed to close down the ball. Ferguson slammed his team at full-time for throwing away the lead and not putting up a good enough fight.

Fylde will require Grimsby and Bromley to drop points in the final three games if there is to be any hope of winning the league.

FYLDE CLAIM PLAY-OFF SPOT

Chesterfield continued their hunt for a play-off place and put The Coasters to the sword in an evenly matched game. Muniru found himself in space when the cross came into the box and the easiest part was tapping the ball into the net. It was disappointment for Fylde as this defeat ruled out any chance of the title.

Boreham wood score.webp

Fylde found themselves 1-0 down in the 6th minute but reliable midfielder Andy Bond, this time scored with his head powerfully into the bottom corner. It was a good second half performance from Fylde and substitute Danny Philliskirk thought he'd given his team the win in the 91st minute. It was not meant to be and Francis-Angol went in hard on Ashley-Seal instead of ushering him out of play. Ferguson was livid on the touchline and the penalty was converted to give Boreham Wood an undeserved point. Fylde will feel dejected on confidence after missing out on the title and throwing the victory away with the last kick of the game.

Danny Rowe hasn't had the best of seasons coupled with injury and poor form but he looked like he had his instinct back when he sniffed out a chance in the opening minutes. Rowe battled hard for the ball and won it from the central defender and placed it into the bottom corner. Ben Hinchliffe had a good game threatening down the left wing and got a goal for his efforts. Winger Ashley Hemmings was brought down in the box in the 85th minute and Andy Bond, omce again as cool as you like sent the keeper the wrong way with an excellent finish. Fylde claimed third place for the second season in a row and will be looking to put in a better performance in the play-offs as opposed to last season.

FINAL TABLE

Fylde appear to be one of the stronger sides in the play-offs but it really can go in anyone's favour.

Fixtures to be announced.

THE BATTLE OF TWO FORMER CENTRE FORWARDS.

Duncan Ferguson has been at Fylde for three seasons and has reached the play-offs twice.

Peter Crouch is within his first season at Leyton Orient and will be hoping to take them up in that first season.
I’d just like to compliment Duncan on his lovely head of hair. He’s looking well
