Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

INCONSISTENCY SETS IN

View attachment 53752

James Hardy continued with his magnificent form getting a goal and an assist against fellow play-off chasers FC Halifax. Danny Rowe grabbed the other and also got the other 2 goals in the game at home to Gateshead.

It all went pear shaped away at Billericay when Ferguson decided to change his trusted 4-3-2-1 formation and opted for two strikers which seen Billericay grab all three second half goals in a performance that was non-existent from The Coasters. Ferguson acknowledged he was to blame for changing the system at half-time and deserved the criticism.

It didn't get much better away to Barrow in what was an evenly matched contest. Denver Hume and model professional Morgan Feeney were the stand-out performers and Feeney, who has shown incredible maturity this season kept his cool with a modest yet defiant display. A home tie to Sutton Utd did not see the return of winning ways and it was 3-0 to Sutton until Andy Bond launched one low into the bottom corner but it was not enough for a comeback. Fylde lacked discipline and looked complacent across the park.

Ferguson brought in Wright-Phillips and rested James Hardy as the youngster was keen to prove himself, he failed to do so against Welling and was substituted on 61 minutes. The chance of the game came when 88 minute sub Ellis Simms latched onto a route one ball, brought it down nicely but could only hit it directly at the keeper from close range.

It was a better showing from Fylde against Bromley who are chasing automatic promotion. The only goal came when Joe Cardle put it straight down the center from the penalty spot. Fylde put in a prominent display but could not double their lead. Bromley could not break down the defence and Fylde walked away with the points in a bit of a dry game. It is now up to Fylde to kick on from here as the season approaches the business end but it looks more likely to be play-offs than automatic promotion.

Oh dear I hope it doesn't happen again mate. Now's not the time to be dropping points

FYLDE OR FIGHT?

An end to end game at Mill Farm saw Joe Cardle earn his side a draw in a six goal thriller. Fylde trailed the game 3-1 after Tom Brewitt put The Coasters 1-0 up from a cross from Paul Paton found Brewitt inside the 18 yard box, powering home with his left foot. The game seemed over at 3-1 down but Fylde were awarded a penalty which Andy Bond converted as calm as you like. James Hardy strolled past his man on the right flank and found Joe Cardle in acres of space inside the penalty area, as the ball came in, Cardle met in nicely and tucked it away.

Tom Brewitt grabbed the only goal with a powerful header from the corner as the game drew to a close. Fylde could have been 3-0 up easily in this game but Dagenham defended well throughout. In the end the points were rightly deserving for The Coasters.

McCartan should not have been allowed the space inside the penalty box to put his shot away into the top corner. Five Fylde players all stood around with nobody picking him up or an attempt of closing him down. Hereford fought for the victory denying Fylde at every given corner and free-kick. McCartan was denied by Russell Griffiths for a second when the keeper parried a shot wide late on in the second half.

Fylde fans thought their team were on the way to a home victory after leading the game 2-0 up until the 86th minute when Hutchinson got in front of Denver Hume who was ball watching and put a header away to claw one back. Two minutes later Paul PATON gave away possession cheaply to midfielder Phillps who found Azeez in space, Azeez wrapped his foot around the ball with a curling shot into the bottom corner. Two points dropped.

A revival ensued as Fylde stuffed Salford City which could've been 5 or 6. Danny Rowe put an end to his goal drought and two stunners from Andy Bond from outside the box sealed a magnificent display in front of goal. Fylde looked good for the win but now we go into the last six games of the season, The Coasters are in third, ten points behind leaders Grimsby Town. An upset can happen but we also require an amount of luck.

Two VERY late goals on a day which we thought we were heading for a draw. Andy Bond scored what football fans are calling the VNL goal of the season. As the ball fell to him he rifled in a devastaying hit right into the top corner. Ellis Simms grabbed the second when he turned and shot first time inside the box showing a true strikers instinct.

Another cracker from 30 yards out for Andy Bond as the 35 year old midfielder turns on the style in the season finale. Danny Rowe doubled the lead and youngster Jaidon Anthony who has spent the season with the U23's finally got his first team debut and capped it off with a goal. A promising win for Fylde as they march on for promotion.
