Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

Probably from page 366. Galactic battle against the eagle shaggers.

Cheers Jimmy, I'll double check that the Eagle shaggers doesn't mean I got up to something I shouldn't have done. I'm pretty sure I was sold some magic mushrooms, lobbed them in a ragu and next thing I know it and I've got Tina Terry trying to spoon me on Cell Block 3

Rotherham United vs AFC Fylde
23rd August 2031

Euan Henderson was showing his quality at 31 years of age and he stated he was in the form of his life in a recent interview with Soccer AM. Renaldo Downey had his work cut out if he were to dislodge him from the startling lineup. It was a quiet first half in Rotherham. Jimmy Dube was tested once at close range and he turned the shot behind the post. Declan Marhsall came on for Josh Ferguson with 20 minutes to go. Morton took the throw inside the Rotherham half and Bytheway flicked it on to Marshall inside the box and he lobbed it towards Henderson but it was cleared. Rotherham defending very well in the final few minutes. Fylde needed some magic and Bytheway got on the ball and ran forward, the Rotherham players backed off and he played in Henderson, he took the shot with his left foot and the keeper done magnificently to palm it away. Inside the fourth minute of the four added on, Henderson ran over to take the corner and there was an air of tension inside the stadium. He crossed to the near post but Jordan headed away and the final whistle was blown. A point apiece and Rotherham will be pleased with a point.

DF: Rotherham had a few chances to win it, they wasn't great with their finishing but we wasn't either. The best chance fell to Hendo late and it looked destined for the back of the net, he hit it really well. A point isn't a bad result but our rivals are picking up points and we need to match them.

Mansfield Town vs AFC Fylde
30th August 2031

After taking the point from Rotherham a week earlier it was an away trip to 16th place Mansfield Town. The earliest chance for Fylde came on 16 minutes when Bytheway played a nice ball into the feet of Tyrone O'Neill and he blazed over from inside the box. Declan Marshall was given a rare start but went down after 20 minutes clutching his knee. Josh Ferguson replaced him. Bytheway played the ball down the line for the chasing Morton, he got to the byline and crossed for Henderson but he headed just over the bar. Patrick Uttridge showed great vision and played a great ball splitting the defence to Bytheway who slotted into the bottom corner on 41 minutes! Henderson took the ball out the right just outside the opposition box, played it into the feet of Bytheway cutting it past two defenders and he blasted his second in three minutes later! What a strike! 20 minutes to go and Lees played the ball forward to Zak Brown who had the beating of Sam Gibson and he struck the post beating Jimmy Dube, the keeper tried to salvage it but it crossed the line and Mansfield were back in the match. Two minutes later Mansfield swung in the free-kick but it was cleared by Gibson. The ball came to Swann and he squared it to Cain, he hit it and the ball struck the post before hitting Dube on the back and finding it's way into the net, Mansfield pull level! Ten minutes to go, Josh Ferguson sent the ball forward down the right towards Bytheway, he crossed for the run of Henderson but it was straight into the hands of the keeper. Mansfield got the ball down the other end and Stone tried the cross, Gibson headed clear and Ferguson ran forward with the ball, he had Henderson and Quinn in support and Henderson received the pass, Henderson played in Jack Quinn and he buried it past the keeper! His first goal for Fylde! But no! The linesman raised his flag! Offside! Replays show he was clearly offside. Morton took the throw on 90 minutes, Bytheway flicked it on to Josh Ferguson and he tried a curling shot with his left foot and the keeper got across to palm it away, great save. 30 Seconds to go and Uttridge won the ball back and passed it to Bytheway, her tried the cross but it was deflected behind for the corner. John Jones went over to take what would be the last action of the match, he tried the in-swinger but it had too much pace on the ball and went towards the touchline. The referee ended the match and it's a great result for Mansfield who pulled two goals back to get a point.

AFC Fylde vs Liverpool U23's
Checkatrade Trophy
2nd September 2031

Duncan Ferguson said in his pre-match interview that Fylde must do better in the competition and it should be a trophy they should be aiming to win but the social media platforms were subdued before kick-off as Duncan Ferguson made changes to include Sean Jones and Brett McGavin the midfield, McPherson and Gibson at Centere back. Greg Taylor and Steve Stockbridge at full back, Jack Quinn on the right and Christian Hutson as the striker. Sinn'kaye Osborne made his debut in goal with Jimmy Dube on international duty with Zimbabwe. Meadowcroft made a great run forward down the Liverpool right and crossed into the box and Kenny McPherson was caught in a muddle with Osborne and put the ball into his own net, Liverpool with the early lead. The long ball game wasn't working for Fylde and there was a lot of space between the Liverpool defence and midfield for Fylde to getr into but they were not getting in those spaces. Josh Ferguson got it wide to Greg Taylor who got up the pitch, he crossed into the box and Hutson came narrowly close with the header going just over the bar. Henderson switched the ball to Quinn on the right side. Quinn went on a maizy run and tried the shot from the edge of the box but it went over the bar. Thirty minutes left and Jack Quinn won the ball back with a great tackle and made strides down the right side, he found Henderson but his first touch was poor and he lost the ball to Morris. Bytheway came on for the remaining 30 minutes for Hutson with Jack Quinn pushing forward. Two minutes later Baron had the ball 20 yards out, he was under no prssure and he took a low shot which went past Osborne who was late to get over and made it 2-0. Liverpool were defending well as a unit and limited Fylde from getting any clear chances on goal. Bytheway played it back to Stockbridge, he got a shot away on his right foot but the keeper got across to parry it, great save. Henderson tried the long rsange shot and the keeper pulled of another great save. Sam Gibson pumped the ball forward to Henderson in the box on 87 minutes but he was beaten to the header, Greg Taylor pounced on the loose ball and blasted it low on his left foot with power and pulled a goal back! Two minutes gone in stoppage time, Stockbridge won the ball on the right and the fans roared the team forward, Bytheway got the loose ball and got it into the box for Henderson, he took it down and beat the full back and blasted it into the top corner to level the score! Brilliant from Fylde. The whistle is blown and the game went to penalties. Euan Henderson was first to take a spot kick, he went to the left but Millington saved! Baron was up against Osborne, Baron with the stuttered run up and he blasted it into the top right corner. It was up to Bytheway to keep Fylde in the match.......buried into the top corner! Simpson took the second spot kick for Liverpool and made it 3-2 going into the third kick. Patrick Uttridge lined up the kick, he buried it into the bottom right corner to keep Fylde in the game. Gibbons took the third kick for Liverpool and buried it with Osborne rooted to the spot. It's on veteran Tyrone O'Neill who slotted cooly into the bottom left sending the keeper the opposite way. Osborne up against Setchell to try and keep Fylde in this match, Setchell sent Osborne the wrong way and now it's up to Josh Ferguson to keep Fylde in the shootout and he sent the keeper the wrong way with a great low finish. Pereira took the long walk up for Liverpool to try to win the shootout, Pereira went down the middle, it clipped the leg of Osborne but managed to still go in and it's a win for Liverpool U23's in the first group match winning 5-4 on penalties.

DF: Putting the penalty shootout to one side, the performance from us in the second half was fantastic and he won done brilliantly to pull this match back. Why we have a penalty shootout at the end of a draw is baffling to me but we have to respect the rules of the competition. We played well and I'm happy to come away with a good performance.

Kopite ferrets at it again

Wigan Athletic vs AFC Fylde
2nd December 2031

Second vs First and a chance for Fylde to take all points and increase the gap to five points at the top. Michael Beale's side were in excellent form having not lost in 12 matches. John Jones and Euan Henderson are in incredible form and can be devastating down the left at the DW Stadium. Wigan dumped Fylde out of the League Cup earlier this season but today could be different as both teams are competing for top spot. Wilson took the ball down well and held off two Wigan players as he came forward and played it to Bytheway, he turned and made space for the shot with his left foot outside the box and struck it with venom past Price to put Fylde in front! It was a great start but Fylde conceded a free-kick on the edge of the box two minutes later and Skelton put it over the wall and into the net to level. It was bad news for Fylde just before half-time after Gibson was involved in a robust challenge and stayed down holding his shoulder, he was stretchered off and McPherson replaced him. Wigan had Fylde penned back in the second half and Fylde were keeping men behind the ball waiting to win it back, Wigan were trying to carve the opening. Wilson won the ball back from Wigan's Ewan Henderson and played it to Bytheway on the right but the ball was ran out of play ten minutes into the second half. Wigan cleared the danger after intercepting Morton's pass and McPherson took the ball and held off Sarpong-Amamoo but played for the foul and the referee gave Sarpong-Amamoo his second yellow card! Fifteen minutes and a chance for Fylde to grab the winner. Ferguson pushed his men forward but Wigan camped in their own half and didn't allow Fylde to play football. Wigan done a good job to hold off Fylde who rarely created any decent chances. Ferguson was frustrated his team couldn't get the victory here today but The Coasters remain top of the table.

DF: Sam's injury looks a bad one, he was unable to move and from what I've heard he has a damaged spine. We'll know the full extent tomorrow but it is a bad injury. He'll be a big loss and it's up to Kenny McPherson to show us what he can do. To get a draw against a very good Wigan team who have a team full of Championship players is a positive. It's a shame we couldn't get the win but it's a good point away at the title favourites.

AFC Fylde vs Rochdale
6th December 2031

Rochdale were floating around mid-table after being promoted to League One this season. Archie Frear who was on loan from Wolves was having an impact in the division. Sam Gibson suffered a damaged spine in the Wigan game and was ruled out for the season. Ferguson stated he would be looking for a Central defender in the January transfer window. It was a quiet start for both teams and John Jones seemed right up for it, he was booked early on and it took a word from Duncan Ferguson telling his star left back to settle down. Tyrone O'Neill epitomised the frustration in the first half when Hutson played the ball to him in the box and it got stuck under his feet before being cleared away. Three minutes into the first half and Fylde kept the ball around the Rochdale box, Wilson was trying to carve open a chance and found Jones on the left who dribbled into the area and hit a left footed shot but the keeper turned it away, it looked goal bound. Hutson was playing well and done well to pick up the loose ball, he played it to Bytheway on the edge of the box and he tried the shot, it deflected off a Rochdale player before falling for Jack Quinn who struck first time into the bottom corner! His first goal for Fylde! On as a second half substitute! The only goal of the game and it gives Fylde the three points which extends their lead at the top by four points!

DF: It was difficult at times but the breakthrough came and gave us that ssurance then. Great finish from Jack and he'll be delighted to get his first goal for the club.

AFC Fylde vs Yeovil Town
F.A. Cup Second Round Replay
10th December 2031

A home tie against Swansea City awaits the winner in January. Ferguson made a few changes to the starting lineup with Ellis McKimm-Forster, Declan Marshall, Victor Oto'o and Jack Quinn all starting. Early pressure from Fylde inside the first minute, the ball was played wide to Morton who supported Oto'o on the right side and he crossed into the box, Henderson got up for the header and directed it towards the bottom corner and the keeper got hands to it but couldn't stop it going in! 1-0 to Fylde! It was all Yeovil in the next 20 minutes, Dube and his defence had their work cut out but managed to keep Yeovil out with some solid defensive work. John Jones recovered the ball and played it to Feeney, Feeney took an awful touch and lost it to Daniel Pike, McPherson tried to get across and Pike squared it for England who slotted inside the box tro make it 1-1. Terrible from Feeney. Jordan Wilson was on for McKimm-Forster in the second half. It was looking better in the second half for Fylde with Henderson carrying the team. He almost got the second with another header after Jones' cross on 54 minutes. John Jones took the corner on 62 minutes but it was cleared away after Quinn went up for the header, Uttridge chased it down and played it to Wilson, he had a look up and thought about the shot but played it wide to Morton who was inside the area and he blasted it with his right foot, the keeper tried to push it out but could only palm it into the side of the net, 2-1! Tyromne O'Neill came on for Euan Henderson and had an instant impact playing on the left, on 70 minutes he met Morton's cross at the back post with a great header to make it 3-1! Great ball from Morton to find O'Neill. Yeovil couldn't find a way back in it and it was Fylde progressing to round three!

LEE LOFTHOUSE LEAVES AFC FYLDE

Lee Lofthouse has decided to leave the club since joining the academy at 12 years old and made his senior debut aged 16 years old in the National League against Salford City. Despite scoring 29 career goals so far, he never hit the net for Fylde and was considered their brightest youth prospect in the last 10 years. Kirkham born Lofthouse had a successful loan spell at FC United in 2027/28 scoring 18 goals in 41 appearances keeping the club in the National League in their promotion season but as Fylde rose through the leagues, Lofthouse just wasn't up to the standard of League One football and felt it was time to move on for the good of his career.

DF: Lee is probably the hardest working player I have worked with in my time as a coach. He put a lot of the experienced professionals to shame in training but he was unable to replicate that on the football pitch. His determination would be an asset to another football club and I want to see him succeed. He still is only young at 23 and has his best years ahead of him.

Gone into business 'partnership' with Danny Rowe. As far as I can make out, it's just the two of them in an old transit van with a mattress in the back trying to make gone porn videos with Lofty's fancy camera phone.

The lad was always grafting so best of luck to him.
