The first game back after International duty and no injury concerns. Roony Bsrdghji was named on the bench after recovering from injury and the starting eleven remained unchanged. 14 seconds into the game and Reed gave the ball away to Beto who ran at the defence, he got to the byline and found Doucoure in the area whose shot was tipped wide. Great start for Everton. Doucoure got the ball wide to Mykolenko, he couldn't get the cross in so went back to Doucoure, he played it to Maffeo on the edge of the box and his shot was pushed away. Everton are not allowing Fulham time on the ball, Onana picked it up in the centre and drove forward, he went to the left and pulled it back for Maffeo, with a first time ball forward into the area for Beto who slotted with ease! Another one for Beto! Casatgne was getting the ball in space on the left but any balls into the area were well dealt with by Branthwaite. Everton had the chance to go another goal up when Maffeo crossed to the far post and McNeil had a free header that was saved by the keeper. That should have hit the net. Fulham were getting closer and the fans were rallying them on, the Everton defence were doing well to keep it at 1-0 but it feels like Fulham are likely to get the next goal. Everton free-kick on 61 minutes, Rodriguez gets it into the box, Tarkowski heads it to Doucoure who must score with the header but it's straight at Leno. It should have been a goal. Just over 20 minutes to go, James Rodriguez walked off to be replaced by Roony to make his debut. The away fans chanted his name as he entered the field. Palmer played it forward to Beto who held it up and then played in McNeil, it has to be! Yes 2-0! McNeil got a helping hand from the keeper but it's 2-0! Everton made some changes for the final 15 minutes, Branthwaite went off for Godfrey, Mykolenko was replaced by Patterson and Palmer was replaced by Cham. 6 minutes were left to play and Everton had a free-kick just inside the Fulham half, they went for it with Cham getting into the box and Doucoure's header finding the left corner! Everton make it 3! Everton look levels better than they did last season and it's an emphatic away win at Craven Cottage!

DF: We are keeping the supporters happy with attacking football and goals, it's what they deserve to see and to come down here and win like this is something they've wanted for a while. No more sad coach trips back up North. We are doing everything we can to keep this up and you can see the level of confidence in these players.

Lineup vs West Ham.png

=West Ham result.png

The Everton side was picking itself due to good form and solid performances early on in the season. Roony Bardghji remained on the bench as he built up his match fitness. New West Ham signing Kelechi Iheanacho already had three goals in five games so led the line for Moyes' West Ham. Kurt Zouma started at Right Back this afternoon. Ward-Prowse played a one-two with Bowen and then set up Kudus who took a first time shot that went in off the post on 7 minutes, 1-0 to West Ham. Kudus was on fire and he easily dispossessed Tarkowski in possession and ran through on goal to beat Pickford a couple of minutes later, shades of the old Everton appearing. West Ham were in control with Everton struggling to get a foothold in the game, Mykolenko managed to get down the left on 37 minutes, cutting it back to Doucoure to get a shot away on the edge of the box on his right foot but was kept out by Areola's palm. Mykolenko took the throw-in near the opposition corner flag to Doucoure, he turned back as had no options, Onana presented himself in the centre and he took the ball forward on his right foot and struck into the back of the net from 20 yards out! Everton get back in the game just before half-time! Everton went on the front foot in the first 15 minutes of the second half, Onana and Doucoure taking control of the game and getting the ball into the wide areas, Roony was the first Everton change with just over 15 minutes to go, he replaced McNeil on the left. It was a rare second half attack for West Ham and Alvarez crossed into the box finding the head of Bowen at the far post beating Mykolenko and Pickford to stretch West Ham's lead by two goals. Everton's next substitution was Calvert-Lewin on for Beto. Everton supporters lost faith as the mactch was coming to an end and West Ham were back on top, 90 minutes approaching and Ward-Prowse passed into the area for Bowen to curl one through the bodies of defenders and into the corner making it 4-1 and completing the rout. West Ham came for the win and played attacking football from the off, they had a gameplan that worked and hit Everton were it hurt today.

League Cup Third Round

Lineup vs Fulham 2.png

=Fulham cup result.png

The third round of the League Cup saw visitors Fulham take on Everton. Fulham remain winless in the Premier League whilst Everton occupy the top 6 after 6 games. Stoke fell to a 4-3 defeat against Everton in the previous round while Fulham beat Southampton on penalties to set up this tie. Karim Konate got his second start in the competition after netting against Stoke, Lewis Dobbin also started on the right. Calvert-Lewin was selected to play on the left with Cham behind the Striker. Nathan Patterson was selected at Right Back, Branthwaite came in at Left Back and Godfey partnered Tarkowski in defence. Patterson took the throw down the right side near the Fulham corner flag, Dobbin played the one-two and it went back to Garner who passed inside to Dobbin, still onside he cut into the box and found Branthwaite, his shot was blocked but it fell to Calvert-Lewin who had sight of goal and he put it away on 15 minutes! Fulham kicked off and came forward, Stanisfield and Tibidi linked up on the Everton box and Tibidi's final ball into the box for Stanisfield was inche perfect as he smashed it into the back of the net from close range, 1-1! Patterson was pulled out of position by Tibidi and allowed him to get the cross in. The game was end to end, a minute or so later Everton came down the left, Patterson couldn't get the cross in so he passed to Dobbin 20 yards out, he wrapped his left foot around it and curled it into the top right corner! What a strike from Dobbin! Garner took the corner from the left, Paulinha headed clear but it was closed down by Cham who ran to the ball and launched it verociosly into the back of the net taking a deflection on the way in! 3-1! Tsygankov played in Tete on the overlap down the right, played it insid to Tsygankov for the return who the with a forward pass found Tibidi who struck from the edge of the box and beat Pickford to get one back for Fulham, what a first half at Goodison Park! Everton made a substitution on 55 minutes, Cham came off for Doucoure who went into a three man midfield with Gueye and Garner. Castagne came down the left in space, he found Tibidi at the near post but his shot hit the outside of the post and went behind. Mykolenko came on for the last 20 minutes for Branthwaite who'd done a good job at Left Back this evening. Ream took the ball forward from the back for Fulham at pace with ten minutes to go, the ball went away from him with a poor touch and Doucoure lunged in taking the player down, it was a late, reckless challenge and Doucoure was shown a straight red card. Everton just needed to see out 8 additional minutes, Aiti played the long ball and Carlos Vinicius was free of Godfrey, still onside but Patterson got across to turn it behind, great tackle. The final whistle sounded and Everton get back to winning ways advancing to the League Cup Fourth Round!

DF: It was a first half that was end to end and at times I felt we were going to lose it. As soon as we got in front, we were pegged back. The second half we done what we had to and toned it down a bit, we didn't need to be attacking like we were so we could play football a bit more calmly. There were moments when I thought Fulham would equalise but defensively we done everything right. Dobbin's goal was of the highest quality too, he deserves the plaudits for that strike.
