Everton's latest summer signing is Right Back Pablo Maffeo who joins the club from Real Mallorca. The 27 year old first teamer made 34 La Liga appearances last season. Maffeo is resurrecting his career, he left Manchester City in 2017 without making an appearance and suffered relegation with VFB Stuttgart and Huesca in 2019 and 2021. Now back on the world's big stage, Maffeo has a chance to redeem himself and show Pep Guardiola he was right all those years ago when he recommended he moved on.

Everton have completed a season long loan deal for Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer. The 22 year old joins his new teammates as Chelsea prepare for a season without him after getting five goals and three assists in 21 league appearances last season. "Cole is a useful acquisition for us, he is confident and brings a lot of creativity to the side, something we lacked last season. He gives us options in the attacking third and has the impact to change a game" Duncan Ferguson stated on the capture of the talented youngster.

PLAYERS FUTURE'S UNCERTAIN AT EVERTON

Neal Maupay returned from his loan move at Brentford with five goals for The Bees however finding a new club for him this summer has proved difficult. Maupay is keen to fight for his place at Everton but with new acquisitions this summer, he will find himself way down the pecking order. Mason Holgate is also another player stuck in limbo at the club, it is unlikely he will be part of the manager's plans this season and with one year remaining on his contract, the defender will be released at the end of his current deal. Dominic Calvert-Lewin's future is also in doubt, with one year remaining on his contract and a poor season last season with 10 goals in 32 appearances, it doesn't look bright. Feeguson discussed the alternative option of using him on the left wing, a position he can play and so far during pre-season, it has proven to be effective. Calvert-Lewin is in last chance saloon and with no club coming forward with a high enough bid to sell, it could be make or break.

Seamus Coleman will be adjusting to life in Italy playing for Genoa at the tail end of his career and it's a good move for Michael Keane who was out of favour at Everton Still only 31, he joins Javier Aguirre's side for the 2024/25 season.
Genoa Seamus?
Never even heard of her gaffer.

EVERTON LAND STRIKER

Everton sign another attacking player at the club with the intention of goals, goals and more goals on the agenda. It has been a window dedicated to attacking prowess for The Toffees but Oscar Vilhelmsson is more of a prospect than a regular starter. The Striker started out with IFK Gothenburg in Sweden but 4 goals in 27 was not impressive enough so Vilhelmsson moved to the Bundesliga 2 to SV Darmstadt for £1 Million Pound in 2022. Vilhelmsson is a player with promise and Ferguson is certainly preparing for the future with this acquisition. 5 U21 goals in 8 appearances isn't too shabby either!

Everton's chances were discussed on The Overlap prior to the season starting...

GN: What do we think of Everton? Ferguson came in after Dyche stagnated a bit, didn't have the greatest of season's but done enough to keep himself in a job.
JC: The way I look at Everton, they should be climbing up the table this season. For years they've spent next to nothing and have had to be very careful in the transfer market. This summer they have made some very shrewd acquisitions. Roony Bardghji is one of Europe's hottest prospects and he could have went to the likes of Spurs or Man Utd, instead he chose Everton because he will be a star there. They've been clever, James Rodriguez is a clever footballer and knows Everton from when he was last here and Konate, he's quite raw, very young and has a lot to prove. Everton have lacked class in the final third but these players can make things happen.
GN: Should they have sold Dominic Calvert-Lewin? He had a poor season and I think he's got one year left on his contract. Why not sell him to Villa?
JC: You sell to Villa, you improve a rival. Calvert-Lewin is capable and I noticed Ferguson said he wants to try him out wide, he's not a natural finisher and he has legs, it could work.
RK: Everton have always been a team that works hard, they have that instilled in them. They don't make it easy for you. If they can get it right up the top of the pitch then they could push on. Don't forget they've got Cole Palmer from Chelsea too, he's a confident player and Ferguson has done tremendous in this window, tremendous.
JC: I really think this side can do something. Whether it's a cup run or what but a side with this much quality can't be in the relegation zone. I watched some of their highlights against Juventus and they were comfortably beaten but I saw the goal from Dobbin and he took it down with his back to goal took an instep and scored from about 20 yards out. I think Roony's injured now as well so they'll be without him to start the season so Dobbin might get his chance.
