Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

IAN WOAN LEAVES THE CLUB

After being hired by former manager Sean Dyche, Ian Woan has left the club after his contract expired. Ferguson brought in Jon Aspiazu as his number two. Aspiazu has been out of work since being released by Lille in December 2024. He spent 12 months at Lille as Assistant Manager to Jose Luis Mendilibar but when Mendilibar was sacked, Aspiazu also lost his role as Assistant Manager. Aspiazu has a strong record as Assistant Manager throughout Spain with clubs like Athletic Bilbao, Espanyol, Villareal, Valencia and Barcelona; number two to Ernesto Valverde.

DF: Jon has a rich history throughout Europe and has worked with some of the best footballers in world football, it's an honour to bring him here as he understands my philosophy and what we are trying to do at Everton. We want to play an attacking style, in style and I'm interested to see some of Jon's ideas.

Aspiazu?!

Bless you.

EVERTON TRANSFER WINDOW UPDATE

As we approached July and the start of Pre-season, rumours were surrounding Everton defender James Tarkowski. With one year left on his contract and at 32 years of age. Ferguson had a decision to make. It was a tough season for Lyon who finished well below expectations in Ligue One in 14th. Manager Fernando came in quickly with a decent offer for James Tarkowski and a total package worth £15.5M was presented to Everton and it was too good to turn down.

DF: It's a good deal for all involved. James was coming to the end of his contract and has been a very consistent player for Everton. He came in for a chat at the end of the season and we made some enquiries. Norwich were interested but James, out of respect to Everton, wanted to leave the Premier League and have a go in France.

DWIGHT MCNEIL JOINS WOLVES!

It's a shock transfer for Everton's Dwight McNeil but the offer was too good to turn down for Everton and McNeil joins Wolves on a 5 year deal.

DF: We are in a position trying to raise funds to support our transfer window and when an offer comes along we have to think about it. Dwight is a good footballer but after a conversation, we found Dwight wanted a new challenge and after a chat with Jon, we decided it was time to let the player go.

EVERTON LOOKING AT NICOLAS GONZALEZ

Fiorentina winger Nicolas Gonzales has caught the attention of the Everton scouts and Assistant manager Jon Aspiazu has urged Ferguson to take a serious look at the Argentinian winger. A versatile player who can play on the left and right as well as in a Striker role. Gonzalez was part of the Argentina squad that won the Copa America in 2021 but had to pull out of the World Cup 2022 squad due to injury. He featured in the Copa America 2024, however there are concerns over Gonzalez's injury history.

Everton are looking at options and discussing a possibility of a loan with an option to buy.

TRANSFER WINDOW UPDATE

After the sales of McNeil and Tarkowski and an injection of cash from Farhad Moshiri, Everton finally got round to doing some incoming transfer business, the trio of Ferguson, Aspiazo and Thelwell looking like a dream team. The first piece of business was the signing of Lazar Samardzic from Udinese for a total fee of £43M. The 23 year old Serbian midfielder spent the last four seasons at Serie A club Udinese and has developed into a very calm and composed Central Midfielder who can score from distance. He is also deadly from free-kicks and is known to get a few goals.

"When you see players like James Rodriguez at a club like Everton, you know it's the right move" stated Samardzic.

DF: Lazar will bring further creativity to our midfield and he is also an all-rounder so is not afraid to get in and work for the ball.

It was a huge day for Everton as they also announced the signing of winger Nicolas Gonzales! Signing for an initial fee of £61M he becomes Everton's most expensive ever signing and that brings huge expectation to the club. The 27 year old joins on a 4 year contract and could be one of Everton's most exciting signings yet. Real Madrid were also interested in acquiring his services but no bid was made and Everton pulled out all the stops to bring in the dynamic winger.

"Coming to the Premier League is my biggest challenge yet and something I have always wanted to conquer. I will give it my all to make a name for myself and for Everton Football Club. I can't wait to show the supporters what I can do."

DF: We worked tirelessly to bring Nicolas here, it wasn't an easy transfer and it comes with huge risk. It's our biggest signing and we know as a club we have to go out and perform. The Premier League is not easy to adjust to and it's my job to get him up and running as quickly as possible.

Lazar and Gonzo are gonna tear this league a new one! Has there ever been a better more competent, imaginative and inspirational chairman than Moshiri.

At this rate we'll be safe by Easter next season.
