I'm for this, Massa gets this one even though had Hamilton known the last few races he needed to do more perhaps he would have. But then Lewis will have to get Max's first title if we are correcting corruption...
The one thing that leaps out:

"a botched ferrari pit stop dropped him down the order."

Some things never change.

Besides.the footage of his family celebrating him being World Champion for about 10 seconds before realising Hamilton had passed Glock is still funny to this day.

Indeed. I was tongue in cheek with my comment as it is ridiculous really, you only have to go back to the Belgian GP that year where Hamilton was given a very harsh penalty that benefited Massa greatly. It was probably correct to give Hamilton a 5 second one, 25 was bonkers and was an attempt to manufacture a closer title race.

In an ideal world had Kimi not crashed out they would have promoted him to first, then it would have been Hamilton and Massa. That would have been an 8 point swing back to Lewis and the Singapore GP result would have made little difference regardless.

Out of the 8 retirements, we’ve just lost 4 of them on that restart, absolutely mental that.

Makes you wonder why they didnt just end it under Safety Car.

EDIT: F1 seems to be entertainment first rather than a sport. They’ve seen the numbers off the back of Drive to Survive and think thats the way to go….

I get the 'it's just entertainment now' argument but surely the drivers themselves have some culpability for what happened after the restart. It's not an inevitability of a start.

Just not sure I fully agree with the "Everything was fine before Netflix came along...." argument.

Everyone will moan for the sake of moaning but im fine with this.

New Sprint Formula this weekend.

The previous format, which has been used since Sprint weekends were introduced to F1 in 2021, saw a qualifying session on Friday set the grid for Saturday's shortened race, which would in turn set the order for Sunday's Grand Prix.

The updated schedule will see Friday's qualifying session set the grid for Sunday's race, while Saturday will now feature a standalone double of the Sprint Shootout to dictate the order for the shortened 100km race that follows.

New Sprint weekend format
Friday

Practice
Qualifying for Sunday's Grand Prix
Saturday
Sprint Shootout
F1 Sprint
Sunday
Grand Prix

The Sprint Shootout will mirror a regular F1 qualifying session in being split into three parts, but each of those will be shorter, with the final eight-minute period potentially leading to one-lap contests to set the top 10.
While teams are free to use any of their available tyres in regular qualifying, in the Sprint Shootout new sets of tyres will be mandatory in each of the three parts, with medium compounds in Q1 and Q2 followed by a switch to softs in Q3.

There is no change to the awarding of points from 2022. The Sprint winner will score eight points, with that amount descending by a point for each of the top eight.

The changes eliminate a second practice session on Saturday morning, which had been criticised for providing minimal entertainment, given that after Friday qualifying teams were unable to make setup changes to their cars.
