Hi Ghost,

1. I use this forum to 'connect' with fellow evertonians. As i am in Asia and physically far from the true blues, from GP, from the pubs, this internet forum is a big help.

I come to read what fans write, rubbish or not, instead of the journos..... Sometimes I chip in (including rubbish i guess - I'm incapable of more sometimes)

2. I behave like i do in real life, i have not tried to imagine doing it another way.

Another thing: there's jerks / hard men / people with very divergent views in cyber-forums as much as in real-life......but, my experience is

a. it's about the same chance of that happening in cyber-forums as in real-life;

b. as a percentage of the total real people i come across online, the majority don't create / give problems... (the majority simply lurks, stays silent, doesn't even bark);

c. at the end of they day, when I've said my piece and others have said theirs, it's an end of a conversation, no more than that.

Here's to a great season for Everton next term, the thing we're all really after.(y)

cheers

To be honest, that's probably the main reason I left Bluekipper. Too many internet hard men on there, who try to be something they can't be in real life. These kind of people are very sad really.

Same here. You couldn't make a post there without some snipe having a go at it, and at you. :dodgy:

When someone's in tit mode, I try to stick to putting them on Ignore until my blood pressure cools.

/* doesn't mean I don't waste my time writing lots of furious posts that never get sent */

But surely we use this forum because we all share an interest in Everton and wish to discuss things with other Everton fans from around the world.

Surely thats all it is? Everybody uses computers these days, but the cyber world still has all these stigmas attached to it. Contray to popular belief, we are not all 14 year spotty virgins who wear glasses.
Some of us are

this site is the best for cruising online, managed to find a glory hole location as soon as i joined.
thanks chico, far better than goat. a bloke appreciates it when you go the extra yard with fresh nail varnish and lippy.

What is the point?

Seriously? Have forums had their day?

The idea was good initially, but us as human beings can't get along without sniping at each other, for whatever reason.

If the Blues are doing **** then he's crap and that's crap, and your crap, and you don't know what your talking about and bans are handed out left right and centre.

When the Blues are doing well, there is still the Tony Marsh-esque complaints about that player and this player. Behaviour is generally out of order by some (including me), and steps backwards are required, and a thought to how you would behave if this wasn't a cyber world. Well I know that I wouldn't argue as much offline.

So why is it done? Why do I do it, why do you do it, why do we all do it?

Frustration that we are inside on a computer and not out enjoying real life? Maybe.

For me I use this site/forum as a way to hand out opinions on certain aspects of the club. If nobody agrees, I don't care that much, it's an opinion. What I do care about is how I am perceived by some. My life may have become pathetic, I agree - short of being a skanky drug addict from the Ferry, I didn't really like myself too much.

A big decision has been made, and it's onwards and upwards. But as for forums, well they have been a substitute for the real thing, which I am hoping will thrive next season, now that I am returning back to the hallowed ground.

Anybody else got any thoughts on why they use a forum, and why we behave the way we do?

Does this mean you will be leaving us Ghost?? :o Shame! :D
