McBain

Player Valuation: £80m
Big news Down Under is that Optus will be carrying the Premier League from the start of the 2016 season for 3 seasons.

On an as yet unannounced format.

The death of Foxtel? I know I, and many others only get it for the game.

Will this affect you Kiwis too?

That's the only reason I have kept Foxtel so long really. The sport. What packages will Optus have?

This is great news for me as foxtel hater until Optus charge me through the nose like foxtel,

EPL hasn't been on Sky for a couple of years now except for replays of Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal and Man City TV during the week.

Everything is online.

for the past 3ish years foxtel has been on the back foot and has reluctantly allowed a small amount of change. They've been sending surveys to see what people actually want, but I don'y think the bottom line liked the replies.

In my case with 150 channels spread over a dozen or so 'groups'. But in reality I might watch 2 out of lifestyle 1 from here 2 from here etc etc say in total 12-14 channels...what part of 'I begrudge paying for all your drek just to watch 1channel' don't you get
The sports package is about 45% of my fee...for one game per week in essence.

I will check the online providers and see if most of what we watch is available online, if it is and the Optus deal is reasonable I'm in and It's good by foxtel.

Have to admit that I was gob smacked when I heard this. Without EPL and with Netflix etc then Foxtel will be in serious trouble although they may earn more money from providing broadband via cable. The figure of $50m was mentioned in the press which makes no sense to me.
As yet Optus have not stated how will deliver the TV content.

What channels do you currently have? How much does Optus charge?

I (begrudgingly ) have the full package. The footy cost about 45%of that. If it all stacks up, anything that doesn't cost me the same or extra PLUS allows me to stick it to foxtel. I would even go with a mixture of online / freeview +optus footy.

If it saves money and Mrs Degsy can watch her rubbish all will be copasetic in chez degsy.
did I mention I hate foxtel

We'll just have to wait and see, pop any news up here if you hear it first.

Be glad to get rid of Fox.

I got rid of foxtel a couple of years ago and ended up getting the fox sports online which shows 4 live games per week and all the rest on delay. Was something like $100 for the season, so pretty good value.

Will be interesting to see how Optus do it. Are they the ones that own Fetch tv or something?

Will any of the other Primes be showing the football and will this have any impact on their allspark coverage?
