Frank Lampard is a useless manager

Absolutely hilarious that, of all things, bombing Keane out for his constant mistakes and realising you can't improve a 30-year-old CB who's consistently making the same errors now for six years, is what people are having a dig at Lampard for.

Lampard was a poor manager and made mistakes. This wasn't one of them.

Maybe he should have handled it better, but the only reason Keane is in the team now is because of Dyche's nepotism. He's awful.

An ex high level player is always suspect for me. How many at the top ever played at the highest level?
Ancelotti.
Luis Enrique
Guardiola
Conte
Capello
Mancini
Someone
Cruyff

To name a few genuine greats both as players and managers - internationals, won stuff, played in Europe regularly etc. A broader interpretation of the highest level (a consistent playing career in the top flight) could see you chuck in Howard Kendall, Sir Alex Ferguson and Bobby Robson.

Hmmm, note there ain't many British managers though. Maybe something about Hubris and ego? Lampard came our of that terrible generation of over hyped English footballers alongside Gerrard, Ferdinando and Terry et al. Couldn't possibly comment lol

Who did Someone play for?

The Hoffemheim stuff was decent. I don't think it was incredible as they did have good players and kind of just underachieved immediately before he got there. And then the last season was crap. Nothing impressive since. Not sure I get it.
Well it's great you don't watch German football, personal choice and all, but that's just not very true lol

Which isn't the worst reason in all fairness, better than making a judgement on him before time simply to bat for benitez.
I don't think somebody not being somebody else is ever a good assessment be it for players or managers, "he's better than what we've got etc". That and the rhetoric of "Who we gonna get lad?" have really wound me up this season. He got longer in the job than anybody else would have done with his results and for the life of me I don't know why.

Ultimately no, but it goes some way to explaining the good will he had. I got absolutely pelted on another site fir suggesting he was garbage 5 games in this season. I still wasn't sure until the wolves game if I'm being totally honest.

That's fair enough mate. I just think if Bournemouth wasn't telling enough then keeping him after Brighton was the biggest warning sign.

In hindsight it was obvious the second Bournemouth game, but after having 6 weeks on the training pitch and him making the same mistakes against wolves, it absolutely baffles me that a prem club that must perform some level of daily performance analysis could carry on with him. Scary

I think the reason for sticking with Lampard for so long likely came as a result from the previous experience of looking for a manager (lack of choice) and...

... the belief that the managerial go-round had to stop. Whether that was for stability reasons or Moshiri and co. didn't want to let the fans win, who knows.

Lots of fans, including myself, were hoping Lampard would get it right and gave some mitigation because of the terrible transfer dealings over time.

But, in hindsight, he should have gone before the World Cup for results alone, and that's before considering how that time could have allowed for an appointment.

The Bournemouth results were shambolic; the throwing away potential victories against Southampton and Wolves while at home were enough to relieve him.

Dyche isn't a stellar manager by any stretch of the imagination, but we already look more rigid, resilient and an attacking threat. Lampard's a dud... simple as.
